2:18 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., Cortez.

3:56 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report that an unoccupied vehicle had rolled into McPhee Reservoir, 27356 Forest Road 271. A woman said she had parked the vehicle on a boat ramp in preparation to load a boat onto its trailer, but that the car had rolled backward after she turned it off. Because the vehicle posed a danger to boats trying to leave the water, the Lewis-Arriola Fire Department dive team assisted with the vehicle’s recovery. When it was recovered, a firefighter reported it was in drive, not park.

Thursday, June 1

12:38 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County District Court, 109 W. Main St., Cortez.

1:20 p.m.: A woman was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, Cortez.

3:50 p.m.: Deputies followed up on a report of a hit-and-run crash in the 25000 block of County Road H that occurred on May 19. A property owner claimed she woke up early that morning to a loud noise “like a tornado” and later discovered part of her fence had been knocked down. The case remains under investigation.

7:55 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of menacing in the 25000 block of County Road 38.1. A FedEx delivery truck driver claimed that a passenger in another vehicle had pulled up beside him and pointed a gun at him. He said the vehicle had duct tape over its license plate numbers, and its driver also appeared to have a gun. Deputies escorted the man to his next delivery. The case remains under investigation.

Friday, June 2

10:31 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:01 a.m.: Deputies performed a welfare check on a man in the 20000 block of County Road U at the request of his daughter, who claimed he had been drinking for several days and said she was afraid he would harm himself. When deputies contacted the man, he reportedly said he believed a UFO had transported him to the Utah desert and back again the previous night, and he also believed several of his family members were with him in the house, even though he was alone. Deputies transported him to Southwest Memorial Hospital and removed two firearms they found in the house, giving them to a friend the man’s daughter said she trusted.

3:40 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of property damage in the 19000 block of County Road 42. A man claimed someone had been repeatedly smashing the gate in a fence on his property for a long period of time. The case was closed due to a lack of evidence, but the responding deputy advised the property owner to install cameras if he was concerned about trespassing.
