Saturday, Jan. 28

5:12 p.m.: A staff member reported that a window had been broken in Manaugh Elementary School, 300 E. Fourth St. The case remains under investigation.

Sunday, Jan. 29

12:35 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of South Beech Street on suspicion of DUI, failing to drive in a single lane, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and speeding 35 mph in a 25 mph zone. He said he was on his way home from watching the “Cortez Idol” competition at Blondie’s Trophy Room.

7:47 p.m.: A man was arrested at the intersection of U.S. Highway 160 and Colorado Highway 145 on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and weaving after he allegedly hit a guardrail and nearly collided with an off-duty sheriff’s deputy.

Monday, Jan. 30

12:10 a.m.: A man was arrested at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing.

11:02 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a failure to appear warrant for an out-of-county misdemeanor.

12:11 p.m.: Two men were cited for shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St., after several cases of alcohol and some food items, valued at $93.53 total, were found in their possession. The stolen items were undamaged and were returned to the store.

12:15 p.m.: The same two men who were previously cited for shoplifting received another summons for a shoplifting that happened at City Market on Jan. 26. In the earlier incident, $62.97 worth of beer was stolen.

2:51 p.m.: Four people were served with failure to appear warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for local felonies and misdemeanors.

3:06 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of West Fourth Street on a failure to appear warrant for a local misdemeanor.

3:59 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after 15 used needles and a half-gram of methamphetamine were found in their vehicle.

Tuesday, Jan. 31

1:18 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Main Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and a defaced firearm. Heroin and several used and unused syringes were found in the man’s pockets.

11:47 p.m.: A woman was cited in the 100 block of West Second Street for DUI, DUI per se and driving with a defective stop light.

Friday, Jan. 27

1:19 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 700 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving under restraint and failing to use a turn signal.

12:12 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Southwest Memorial Hospital emergency room, 1311 N. Mildred Road, on suspicion of obstruction and resisting arrest. The man had been fighting with hospital staff and was under the influence of multiple drugs.

12:21 p.m.: A woman turned herself in and was arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a failure to appear warrant for a local misdemeanor.

1:34 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on a failure to appear warrant for a local felony and on suspicion of disturbing the peace, after he allegedly urinated next to a bookshelf inside the library.

10:28 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of West First Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and failing to yield when proceeding from a stop sign.
