What’s happening in Ukraine is the ultimate result of the world’s willingness to be dependent upon repressive autocracies for essential goods. Their power comes from our money, yet we are powerless to stop the killing. Sanctions are good, protest is good, weakening the oligarch’s power is good. But it seems that the best chance for ending the war on the Ukrainian people is for the Russian military to realize the inhumanity of their actions and refuse to fight. So that’s the miracle that I pray for.
