1:52 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of West Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge.

4:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 800 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order and violating bond conditions after a woman reported he had assaulted her the night before. The woman reportedly did not give responding officers details about the alleged assault, and the man denied being in contact with her. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to the detention center, due to apparent intoxication.

5:42 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Dolores State Bank, 744 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after medical personnel requested a courtesy ride for him, saying he was refusing medical attention. The man, who reportedly had a protection order prohibiting him from consuming alcohol, was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

11:04 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of West Seventh Street on suspicion of violating municipal bond conditions after police responded to a report that he was intoxicated in the roadway. Two large knives in his possession were transported to the Cortez Police Department for safekeeping, since they could not be stored in the jail.

Thursday, Dec. 21

8:47 a.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 700 block of North Dolores Road on suspicion of operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without registration after police responded to a one-vehicle traffic accident in the area. The man’s vehicle had reportedly collided with a chain link fence, causing damage to its front passenger tire. No injuries were reported. The man reportedly told responding officers that his friend had been driving the vehicle, but when they were unable to find any record of the friend, he told them he had been driving and had lost control during a turn.

11:36 a.m.: A man was arrested in Montezuma Park, 15 W. Montezuma Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after police issued summonses to him and two other men on suspicion of an alcohol violation. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

2:04 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 500 block of South Madison Street. A woman claimed someone had been breaking into her residence and stealing her clothing during the past three to four months, and said she had seen one of her scarves for sale at a local consignment store. She also said she suspected a woman she had been giving rides to recently of stealing her clothes. After speaking with the other woman and the consignment store owner, responding officers concluded there was not enough evidence to charge anyone with theft.

4:25 p.m.: Police confiscated a green bicycle that was found abandoned in the 300 block of North Broadway. Responding officers were unable to match the bike to any reports of missing or stolen property, and it was placed into evidence.

6:44 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of Memorial Drive on a Department of Corrections warrant for failure to appear on a felony charge after police responded to a report he was fighting with another man in a residence. The man reportedly yelled threats and profanities at the responding officers throughout the arrest, and refused to enter the patrol car until one of the officers kneed him in the leg several times. He was medically cleared due to apparent intoxication, and reportedly continued to act aggressive throughout the booking process at the jail.

10:16 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Cedar Street on suspicion of third-degree assault and harassment after his brother reported he had punched him in the face, chipping a tooth, after he asked him to leave his apartment.

Friday, Dec. 22

8:56 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at Denny’s Restaurant, 2059 E. Main St. The restaurant manager claimed two men had stolen a backpack full of clothing, valued at $150 total, from another customer. Responding officers were not able to identify the suspects from security video footage. The case remains under investigation.

10:10 a.m.: Police responded to a report of burglary in the parking lot of Notah Dineh Trading Company, 1 N. Maple St. A man claimed someone had broken into his merchandise trailer the previous night and stolen about 16 blankets and several children’s coats, which he valued at about $1,200 total. He reportedly gave responding officers the name of a man he suspected was responsible, but did not give a reason why he suspected the man. The case remains under investigation.

10:53 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge.

5:15 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after store employees reported he was sleeping in the deli area. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to apparent intoxication.

9:08 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of East Third Street on suspicion of trespassing after police responded to a report that he was jumping in front of traffic in the area and screaming for help. The man’s father reported he had entered his house after being trespassed the previous week. The man reportedly appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance and was unable to sit still or form coherent sentences.

Saturday, Dec. 23

11:48 a.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of disturbing the peace after homeowners in the area claimed he had yelled at them and threatened to burn their house down. The man reportedly asked a responding officer to take him to jail, but he was released after signing the summons.

1:49 p.m.: A man was arrested at Domino’s Pizza, 2224 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing and disturbing the peace after store employees claimed he had yelled at them for not having de-icing salt in the alley behind the store, and continued to yell after they asked him to leave. Police also asked him to leave after explaining they could not require a property owner to put down salt on private property, but the man reportedly returned a few hours later and was arrested.

2:44 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1500 block of East Seventh Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

4 p.m.: A man was arrested at Big R, 1319 E. Main St., on a Garfield County warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after Colorado Bureau of Investigations agents told police he was attempting to buy a gun at the store.

8 p.m.: Police responded to a report of shoplifting at Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway. Store employees claimed a man had stolen a portable game player valued at $32. The employees provided a name for the man and a license plate for his vehicle, but responding officers were unable to immediately contact the man and found no record of the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.

Sunday, Dec. 24

5:29 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after store employees claimed she had stolen a case of beer, a bag of grapes and a package of chicken wings, valued at $22.74 total. The woman was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital after she told police she had been vomiting blood.
