Friday, Feb. 22

6:26 a.m. A woman with three warrants turned herself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:09 a.m. An officer arrested a man with four warrants outside the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. The man was also cited with violating a protection order that states he shall not consume or possess alcohol.

Saturday, Feb. 23

8:06 p.m. A highly intoxicated man with a “fake leg” was arrested on a warrant at the Bridge Emergency Shelter, 735 N. Park St.

8:17 p.m. A man was arrested under suspicion of a felony DUI at Angels End Zone, 309 N. Broadway. When asked why he drank while driving to town he said, “He was mad.”

10:57 p.m. Officer responded to the report of a fight that happened at City Market, 508 E. Main St. It was reported that a woman was seen being pulled from her vehicle by a man who was enticing her with apologies, when she refused to go with him, he reportedly beat her with a gun where she suffered injuries to her head.

Sunday, Feb. 24

4:56 p.m. An officer took a report from a man who was receiving threats via Facebook messenger from a man’s daughters on again off again boyfriend in the 900 block of Alma Ave.

Monday, Feb. 25

3:18 a.m. Cortez police officers reported to an anonymous report of underage persons consuming alcohol at the Super 8, 505 E. Main St. The report was unfounded but a woman was arrested for three outstanding warrants.

2:09 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant and cited with violating a no contact protection order near the Municipal Court, 125 N. Roger Smith Ave.

2:21 p.m. An officer responded to the report of a burglary at the Cedar Terrace Apartments, 417 S. Cedar St.

Monday, Feb. 26

2:58 a.m. A man in the possession of homemade nun chucks outside of the Cork-N-Bottle Liquors, 443 E. Main St. was arrested on two warrants, violating a no firearms or weapons protection order and cited with violating statute 18-12-106 (2)(a) Statute 18-12-106 (2)(a) states a person commits the offense of prohibited use of weapons if such person knowingly possesses a throwing star or nunchaku in a public place except for the purpose of an unauthorized public demonstration or exhibition.

3:45 a.m. An officer took a report for a stolen vehicle from a woman who was staying in the 600 block of S. Oak St.

9:42 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a person banging on a motel room door at the National 9 Inn, 301 W. Main St., where a man was arrested on a warrant.

Tuesday, Feb. 27

10:11 a.m. A man who tried to evade police by jumping out through a bedroom window in the 5600 block of Road 25, was arrested on two warrants, trespassed from Walgreen’s and cited with obstructing a peace officer and unlawful possession of less than 4 grams of a controlled substance.

8:25 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a possible domestic violence situation at the Retro Inn, 2040 E. Main St. A man was arrested under suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol.

Wednesday, Feb. 28

2 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant outside of Garcia & Co. Jewelers, 450 E. Main St.

10:57 a.m. An officer updated a woman’s burglary case by adding the value of her wallet and its contents at the Prairie Mesa Estates, 650 E. Second St.

12:27 p.m. An officer arrested two women who were remanded by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. One woman was served a summons for a warrant that was being executed and the other woman was arrested on her warrant.

5:04 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating an alcohol protection order, cited with third-degree assault and was served a U.S. Marshal warrant after officers responded to a report of an active fight at Montezuma Park, 15 W. Montezuma Ave., where witnesses reported they saw the man aggressively attacking another man that was lying on the ground.

7:21 p.m. A woman reported her Apple Mac Book was stolen from her vehicle at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St.

8:51 p.m. An officer took a report from a woman in the 1300 block of Melrose Street, who suspected that a man who she has a no-contact, no-exceptions protection order from with whom she had an intimate relationship with was using multiple phone numbers and aliases to try to entice her to meet with him.

9:04 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.
