Wednesday, June 3

8:14 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of failing to yield the right of way in the 300 block of South Broadway. The driver allegedly attempted to make a left turn onto Stratton Drive, turning in front of a truck and causing a collision.

8:51 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of burglary, trespassing and criminal mischief at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. After the man was told the store was closed, he damaged an outdoor canopy, punched the doors and pushed through employees to force his way into the store. An off-duty BIA officer detained the man until officers arrived.

10:59 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with a revoked license and having an open alcohol container in the 400 block of North State Street. A woman had reported that the driver was harassing her and had pointed a gun at her. No gun was found in the vehicle.

Thursday, June 4

5:58 a.m. An officer served a misdemeanor warrant to man in the booking area of Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:16 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and third-degree criminal trespass at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The man harassed a woman who was in her car and picked up a rock to throw at her window before she drove away.

4:06 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of turning left in front of approaching traffic in the 1100 block of East Main Street. The driver allegedly turned left in front of a truck, and the truck struck the car.

Friday, June 5

8:37 a.m. A hit-and run-crash was reported in the 1700 block of Center Street. The vehicle was parked at 10 p.m. the previous night, but the owner did not know when the car was hit. Blue or teal paint was observed on the front end where it had been damaged, but the suspect car was not located.

4:03 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of making an illegal U-turn in the 200 block of West Main Street. The driver attempted to make a U-turn on Main Street and struck another vehicle.

Saturday, June 6

12:29 a.m. A woman was issued a summons for DUI, failing to use headlights at night and failure to provide proof of insurance in the 600 block of North Mildred Road. An officer initiated a traffic stop due to a vehicle driving at night with no headlights turned on. The driver appeared intoxicated and could not successfully perform roadside maneuvers. A portable breath test also showed a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The driver’s license was seized, and she was issued a notice of revocation.

8:12 a.m. An assault was reported at Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St. Two women got into a physical altercation while intoxicated.

10:35 a.m. Two men were involved in an altercation in the 400 block of South Madison Street. One man was charged with disturbing the peace, and the other man was charged with destroying public property for punching a mailbox.

4:34 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. He admitted to stealing items worth about $110 and was cooperative.

5:16 p.m. A stolen vehicle was located near Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway. Receipts found in the car led officers to surveillance footage of the two female suspects shoplifting at Walmart. The women were identified, but had not been contacted yet.

Sunday, June 6

7:19 p.m. A vehicle, 40 keys to used vehicles and several license plates were reported stolen from Keesee Motors, 111 S. Broadway. The vehicle was spotted at a local coffee shop by an employee of Keesee. After the car lot was inspected, two more cars were reported stolen. The other two vehicles were located the next day, along with the license plates. The investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, June 9

1:38 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting beer from City Market, 508 E. Main St. Video surveillance of the incident was collected.

3:51 p.m. A Kia vehicle was reported stolen in the 30 block of East Fifth Street. The owner parked the car in the driveway the night before and may have left the keys in the console.

9:10 p.m. A Native American man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault at City Market, 508 E. Main St. Officers responded to a call that a man was trying to break into vehicles and witnessed the suspect hit a female gas station attended and throw her to the ground. He was forcibly restrained and taken to jail.
