Wednesday, April 18

3:57 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Maverik Gas Station, 455 N. State St., on three La Plata County warrants for failure to comply.

8:27 a.m.: A male inmate was served with a municipal warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of South Sligo Street on suspicion of abusing toxic vapors after police responded to a report he was yelling and jumping around near the dumpsters on the street. When police contacted him, he was reportedly holding a plastic bag of glue. The man was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

8:06 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of trespassing and violating bond conditions after a neighbor reported he was pulling on the library’s doors The man was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

Thursday, April 19

3:04 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Handy Mart, 806 S. Broadway, on two La Plata County warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges and on suspicion of criminal impersonation after her vehicle was pulled over for matching the description of one belonging to a man with an arrest warrant from Montrose. When the vehicle was pulled over, the woman reportedly gave officers a false surname and said she had no identification. When officers prompted her to look in her purse for something with ID, they spotted a bottle of prescription medication with her real name on it. When they discovered she had warrants for her arrest, two officers dragged her out of the car. The man with the Montrose warrant was not in the vehicle, and it was turned over to the male driver.

4:25 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1500 block of East Seventh Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving without a seatbelt, an open container violation and theft after police responded to a report he had been intoxicated at Walmart. Open containers of whiskey and beer were reportedly visible in his vehicle, and officers reportedly found fishing hooks and bait, valued at $40.30, which the man said he had stolen from Walmart. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

11:12 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Blondie’s Trophy Room, 45 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order and resisting arrest after police responded to a report he was intoxicated and refusing to leave. An officer reportedly offered him a ride to the Bridge Emergency Shelter, but he responded with profanity. The man reportedly had a protection order prohibiting him from drinking alcohol, so officers arrested him. He reportedly struggled while they searched his pockets for weapons, and an officer forced him to the ground, bloodying his nose. The man reportedly tried to spit blood at the officers while they were transporting him to Southwest Memorial Hospital, and they put a spit mask over his head. He was cleared due to intoxication and the bloody nose.

Friday, April 20

2:31 a.m.: A man was arrested at National 9 Motel, 301 W. Main St., on two warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges after police responded to a report of an assault. After they talked with the man who reported the assault, police found that his brother, who had Montezuma County warrants for his arrest, was in a vehicle in the parking lot. He reportedly refused to exit the vehicle until an officer threatened to use a stun gun on him, and shouted threats and profanity at officers. His brother was reportedly unable to give details about the assault, and denied medical care for cuts around his lips.

8:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after reportedly hitting a woman and other people. None of the people in the area appeared to have any injuries, and the woman denied hitting them. The woman, who had a protection order prohibiting her from drinking alcohol, was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

10:53 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of DUI and on a Castle Rock warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He reportedly told officers he had been smoking marijuana and drinking. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

Saturday, April 21

12:02 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving under restraint and failing to yield in the 200 block of West Seventh Street after police responded to a report that he was urinating next to his vehicle. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication after telling officers he had been drinking and smoking marijuana.

2:20 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 1400 block of North Mildred Road on suspicion of DUI after she was pulled over for weaving.

9:11 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 40 block of South Washington Street on a San Juan County warrant and a Cortez warrant after she was reported for trespassing.

12:58 p.m.: A man was arrested in Denny Lake Park, 2825 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after allegedly drinking alcohol in the park.

5:37 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave., on suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest after police responded to a report that he was harassing women entering the building. When officers contacted him, he reportedly refused to give his name and walked away. Two officers took him by the arm, and when he continued to try pulling away, one of them struck him multiple times. He was then arrested, but he reportedly continued to threaten officers during the ride to the jail.

7:40 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of third-degree assault after police responded to a fight in the area. Another man claimed the suspect had punched him, knocking him down and causing cuts on his hand. The alleged victim refused medical attention.

8:45 p.m.: A man was arrested at Hibbett’s Sports, 215 S. Sligo St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after employees reported he and another man were intoxicated in the store. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

Sunday, April 22

2:23 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of North Elm Street on suspicion of DUI, driving without proof of insurance and careless driving after he was pulled over for hitting a curb twice. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

6:41 p.m.: Two men were arrested in the 10 block of East Main Street after police checked on three men lying in an alley. One was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that prohibited him from drinking alcohol, and the other on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. Both men were cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

7:21 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 400 block of North Market Street on a warrant and on suspicion of resisting arrest after police responded to a disturbance. When an officer contacted her about the warrant, she reportedly started walking away. An officer tackled her and handcuffed her.

8:33 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of DUI and two counts of driving under restraint in the 500 block of East Third Street after reportedly crashing his motorcycle into a mailbox, causing $15 in damage. He was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries including cuts, scrapes and “road rash” on his hands and arms, and an unknown injury to his foot.

8:33 p.m.: A woman was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a La Plata County warrant for failure to appear. She was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

Monday, April 23

12:41 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle in the 200 block of South Park Street. A man said his Giant mountain bike, valued at $1,000, had gone missing while he was inside a friend’s house for a few minutes. The case remains under investigation.

10:40 p.m.: A man and two women were arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., after police contacted them for drinking alcohol in the park. The man was arrested on a municipal warrant and the women were both arrested on suspicion of violating protection orders that prohibited them from drinking alcohol. All three were cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

11:02 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of North Mildred Road on suspicion of violating a protection order after an officer noticed him “stumbling around” near the Centennial Park pond.

Tuesday, April 24

1:06 a.m.: A man claimed someone had broken his bathroom window in 200 block of East Seventh Street while a man and a woman argued outside. The woman who was reportedly arguing refused to cooperate with police, the man with whom she was arguing could not be found, and the man who reported the incident changed his story. The case remains under investigation.

10:34 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 200 block of South Madison Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving without proof of insurance.

11:53 a.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in Parque De Vida, 400 N. Mildred Road, after police contacted them in a group of people drinking alcohol in the park. The man was arrested on suspicion of violating bond conditions, an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park. The woman, who was reportedly on supervised release for felony charges, was arrested on suspicion of an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park. Three others were cited for open container and possession violations.

6:41 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing after employees reported he was harassing customers. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

11:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 70 block of West Main Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after police contacted him while he was running down the street. He reportedly said he was leaving Blondie’s Trophy Room because he had “enemies” there. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.
