4:53 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of West Seventh Avenue on suspicion of disturbing the peace, underage consumption of alcohol and mistreating a K9 after police responded to a report that he was banging on a woman’s door. The woman said she did not know the man, but that he often knocked on her door late at night. While he was being transported to the jail, the man reportedly banged his head against the partition that separated him from the K9 in the car and yelled, “Bite my face,” until the dog became agitated. The officer stopped the vehicle, opened the prisoner’s door and threatened to use his stun gun if he didn’t stop harassing the dog. The suspect reportedly fell out of the car when the officer opened the door, and spit at him while he put him in the car. The suspect was medically cleared due to intoxication.

Police reportedly offered to give her a ride to a shelter, but as they were helping her into the patrol car, she reportedly started to yell profanities and resisted getting into the car. At that point, they decided to handcuff her, and she got a bloody nose. She was medically cleared due to the injury and intoxication. She yelled at hospital staff and officers throughout the process, spitting on an officer when he tried to get her back in the patrol car.

9:15 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving under restraint, weaving and driving with an illegal window tint. She was medically cleared due to intoxication.

Monday, March 5

11:03 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street after police responded to a report of a woman screaming for help. A woman said her boyfriend had taken her cell phone, pushed her down, kicked her and punched her in the face, causing bruising. She said he had left in a vehicle with a shattered front window. Police attempted to stop a vehicle fitting that description, but the driver turned into a driveway. An officer took out his firearm and told the driver to put his hands on the steering wheel. A 4-year-old child was in the vehicle when it stopped. The driver was not the person the woman initially told police she had fought with, but he had scratches on his face and told police he got them while fighting with the woman. The woman was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence, and the man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other charges. Social Services personnel took custody of the child.
