Fruitland man pleads guilty to assault

Buck’s girlfriend was hospitalized for several weeks after the assault

A Fruitland man entered a plea agreement this week pleading guilty to an assault causing serious bodily injury.

Anderson Buck, 40, admitted he seriously injured his girlfriend Nov. 17, 2022, when they were intoxicated in Buck’s vehicle.

“The victim was seriously injured during the assault and was hospitalized in the ICU for several weeks, where she was intubated while fighting for her life,” according to court documents.

The assault took place on the Navajo Nation in San Juan County.

Under the agreement, Buck could face up to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised probation.
