On Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at Four Seasons Greenhouse and Nursery, local boutique Love on a Hanger will host its 12th annual Pretty in Pink Fashion Show, which will donate proceeds to local cancer group Cancer Resource Alliance.

“We will fill the night full of the latest fashion trends, tips, tricks, tutorials, dinner and a silent auction to raise awareness and funds for the Cancer Resource Alliance,” the event’s website said.

The show, which started in 2011, includes food, music and multiple fashion shows put on by Love on a Hanger, The Station Boutique and Say Yes Bridal and Boutique.

Tiffani Randall, owner of Love on a Hanger, expressed her excitement about the upcoming show, emphasizing that it is a fun night that benefits a good cause.

“We give out grants to Montezuma and Dolores County residents who have been diagnosed or are currently going through cancer treatments. So, all the funding stays locally, which has been really important to me to raise money for an organization where we know the people that we're supporting,” Randall said.

Cancer Resource Alliance helps provide financial support to local individuals who are battling cancer, and Randall, who is president of the organization, said they haven’t turned away anyone who has asked for help.

The group is composed of volunteers from Montezuma and Dolores counties who “want to make a difference for individuals who are dealing with cancer.”

The group started out as the Women’s Cancer Coalition in 2003, and originally provided help to local women with costs associated with screening and treatment for breast and reproductive cancers.

Now, due to fundraising events like the fashion show, the organization has been able to expand its services to all who have been diagnosed with cancer and need help in the area – men, women and children.

In 2022, the coalition helped 64 people pay for cancer treatments, and already in 2023, they have helped 75 individuals.

“We’ve helped more people than last year in only eight months,” Randall said.

The first year of the show, which took place in 2011, was hosted at J. Fargo’s restaurant, and Randall said it was “super-casual.”

“It was so long ago that that's when it was cool to put pink streaks and pink feathers in your hair,” Randall joked.

At first, proceeds went to a national breast cancer awareness organization called Susan G. Komen Fund before Randall was connected with the Women’s Cancer Coalition, now known as the Cancer Resource Alliance in Montezuma County.

“Somebody approached me and told me that there was a local group that supported women with reproductive or breast cancers in Montezuma and Dolores Counties,” Randall said. “So I started going to board meetings and one thing led to another, and then all of a sudden we had a full-fledged fashion show planned.”

“The first year at Four Seasons we had well over 200 people, and it just kind of snowballed. It just has become this amazing thing and we can't stop it,” Randall said. “It’s a great way to give back in October.”

Last year, fashion show attendees experienced multiple fashion shows put on by the various clothing brands, and were even given some style tutorials between each show. The food included a salad, main course, side and dessert.

This year, food will be catered by Mona Makes, and the meal will be a three-course lasagna dinner with salad, breadsticks and dessert.

Tickets are $50 for dinner and the fashion show, and VIP tickets are $55 for the VIP dinner and show. VIP ticket holders are also able to sit closer to the fashion show stage.
