The Mancos Public Library, 211 W. First St., is hosting a variety of free programs throughout January, including educational sessions, teen activities, a wildlife presentation and weekly recurring family events, according to the library’s newsletter.
A free teen cafe featuring dinner and a movie is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and another drop-in teen game night will take place Friday, Jan. 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information on teen programs, call (970) 533-7600.
On Thursday, Jan. 15, the library will offer three distinct programs. An Introduction to Medicare session runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This session is designed to make the Medicare program less confusing for attendees.
Four Corners Tax Help will provide free tax return preparation and filing from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for low- to moderate-income individuals and those 60 years old and older. Reservations for this event are required and can be done by calling (970) 553-9150.
At 3:30 p.m., carnivore ecologist and Presidential Research Fellow Aidan Branney will present a field talk and photo presentation on lions, giraffes and carnivore ecology in Namibia. Recurring weekly programs include story time for children and families every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., and “Fridays at the Library,” a drop-in program with activities for all ages starting at 9 a.m. each Friday.
