‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ screening in Mancos pairs classic film with holiday food drive

Food donations will benefit Mancos Food Share and support local residents during the holidays.

The Cult Federation of Mancos will screen the 1946 Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” on Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Mancos Opera House, 136 Grand Ave. The event includes a holiday food drive benefiting Mancos Food Share.

Admission is $5, payable by cash or check at the door. Presale tickets will be available at the Mancos Public Library the day before the show. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the film begins at 7 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items. Donations will go to Mancos Food Share to assist local residents during the holiday season.

Concessions will be available for $1. Attendees 21 and older may bring their own drinks. Cult Federation of Mancos hats will be sold for $30. Organizers request cash or checks for purchases.

The film follows George Bailey as he learns to appreciate his life after his guardian angel shows him what the world would be like if he had never been born. The movie is rated PG and contains no sex, nudity or profanity. It includes mild violence, mild alcohol and tobacco use, and some frightening scenes. There is also mention of suicide.
