The annual luminaria event at the Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center has been canceled for 2025. It was scheduled for Friday, Dec. 5.
No reason for the cancellation was provided in the email announcement.
Jennifer Humphreys, manager of the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Visitor Center, acknowledged the community’s anticipation for the event.
“While this wasn’t an easy decision, it was made to ensure the best possible experience and safety for everyone involved,” she said in an email. “Thank you for your understanding, and for your continued commitment to our community and the work we do together.”
