The Cult Movie Federation of Mancos will celebrate its second anniversary with a special screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Mancos Opera House. The movie will begin at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m.
The Cult Movie Federation described “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as a sci-fi/horror/musical cult classic. It follows sweethearts Brad and Janet after an unfortunate event causes them to stumble upon the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
The federation warned that the screening is rated R for moderate sexual content and nudity, mild violence and gore, mild profanity, mild alcohol, drugs and smoking, as well as mild frightening and intense scenes.
Admission is $5 cash or check. Presale tickets are available at the Mancos Public Library. Concessions will be sold for $1, and attendees age 21 and older may bring their own drinks.
Branded Cult Movie Federation of Mancos hats will also be available for $30. All proceeds from the evening will support the Mancos Public Library.
Because the event takes place the night before Halloween, attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite “Rocky Horror Picture Show” character, with a chance to “catwalk” in front of other attendees. Extra points will be given to those who recite a favorite line of their character’s during their pose.
Props for costumes are welcome as long as they do not create a mess. Props that include fire, food, confetti or water are not allowed to help preserve the Mancos Opera House.
