The Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct guardrail repairs today along U.S. highway 160 east of Cortez between mile markers 40 and 44.
Fifteen-minute delays between Cortez and Mancos are expected 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 29. Repairs will involve multiple sections of damaged guardrails.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane of alternating flow with speed limits lowered to 40 mph.
In their news release, CDOT emphasized the importance of staying alert, avoiding distractions such as mobile devices and keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead when in the construction zone. Additional safety measures include using headlights for visibility and merging when directed.
CDOT also urges drivers to adhere to work zone safety guidelines, including obeying the posted speed limits, watching for workers and avoiding unnecessary lane changes.
