‘Vote ‘no’ on Props. HH, II’

By placing Propositions HH and II on the Nov. 7 ballot, the Colorado Legislature is asking voters to give them permission to renege on prior commitments.

Prop. HH is particularly insidious because it asks multiple questions to which we can only give one answer. If we want to maintain revenue limits, we don’t get property tax relief; if we want the tax relief, we’re giving permission for the state to retain the surplus – for years to come.

Voters have already told the Legislature what to do with excess tax revenue: Refund it! What is the point of the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights if the Legislature keeps coming back to us every election cycle asking, “Are you sure you don’t want us to keep the excess?”

Let our legislators know we meant what we said before. Vote “no“ on both Propositions HH and II.
