The city of Farmington announced Tuesday that the north Cooper Street tennis will be closed until further notice because of wind damage.

The south courts were not damaged and will remain open to the public.

Recent strong winds pulled up the court’s surfacing material, making the courts unusable until they can be repaired.

Christa Chapman, assistant director of Cultural Affairs and Marketing for the city of Farmington said in an email that damage to the courts and possible solutions are being assessed today. No timeline will be determined until the assessment is complete.

According to the Earth Networks Weather Station at San Juan College, wind speeds hit a peak of 43.8 mph on Monday and the National Weather Service reported gusts of 61 mph on Monday.
