Staff from Mancos and Dolores schools to receive second round of vaccine

Mancos schools to let out early for clinic
Mancos schools will release students at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to allow teachers and staff to receive their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.

Staff from Mancos and Dolores schools will receive their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine Thursday afternoon.

Mancos schools will let out at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, the last day of classes before spring break, so that teachers and staff can receive their second dose.

Well over half the Mancos School District staff will get their shots from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, according to an announcement earlier this month on the district website.

Only 12 people may be vaccinated at a time.

To reduce risk of staff having a reaction to the vaccine and not being able to cover their classes, schools will release students at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Classes will resume March 22.

According to Dolores School District Superintendent Lis Richard, Dolores schools will coordinate with their on-campus health clinic and maintain their regular schedules.

Montezuma-Cortez School District teachers and staff will receive their second round of shots later this month, according to Superintendent Lori Haukeness.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
