Southwest Health System’s chief nurse appointed to Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders

Southwest Health System’s Chief Nursing Officer Lisa Gates.
‘Her leadership will play a vital role in shaping the future of nursing in Colorado,’ news release says

Southwest Health System’s Chief Nursing Officer Lisa Gates was recently appointed to the board of directors for a statewide group of nurse leaders who aim to transform health care collaboratively.

Gates will represent Southwest Colorado on the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders board and will be “a voice for nursing and rural health care.”

“Serving on that board gives a platform at a statewide level to advocate at a legislative level for nursing and health care issues,” said Gates.

A fellow chief nursing officer first appointed Gates. That was followed by an application process, and she ultimately was appointed by board members serving now.

As a board member, Gates “will collaborate with nurse leaders from across the state to advocate for policies and practices that enhance the quality of nursing care and support the professional development of nurses,” a news release said.

The news release went on to say that “this prestigious appointment recognizes Lisa's exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing nursing practice and patient care,” and her “extensive experience” and “passion” will make her an asset on the board.

The appointment also “underscores Lisa’s commitment to excellence and her drive to bring best practices to SHS … her leadership will play a vital role in shaping the future of nursing in Colorado.”
