6:03 p.m. An officer was dispatched to McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St., about a report of a counterfeit $100 bill. The officer reported the bill was “obviously” counterfeit. A woman who used the bill said she got it from a man who bought her 12-inch sub-woofer speaker in the City Market parking lot. The man could not be located.

Saturday, Oct. 26

5:26 p.m. An officer was dispatched to The Bridge emergency shelter, 735 N. Park St., about an intoxicated man who was harassing the staff. The man was arrested for violating a restraining order that banned him from consuming alcohol. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:05 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting report. A man was issued a summons for shoplifting and given a trespass notice that bans him from Walmart.

Sunday, Oct. 27

1:19 p.m. An officer in the 200 block of West Seventh Street recognized a man with an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:53 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a report of shoplifting. Walmart staff said a man had fled the store after being confronted about putting on clothing in the store and then leaving without paying. A suspect was located on Sligo Street, but he fled, then was identified at Big O Tires. He was arrested for theft, harassment and obstructing a peace officer. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:09 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting report. A woman told the officer she didn’t scan all the items she put in a bag in the self-checkout. The woman said she was having a hard time and struggling. She added that she is on food stamps. The woman was issued a summons for shoplifting and issued a trespass notice banning her from Walmart.

9:27 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting report. The officer took a report about an incident in which two women came to the store empty-handed, picked up two boxes of laundry detergent and returned it at the customer service desk for money. The store had suffered a loss of $16.39.

Monday, Oct. 28

1:51 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue an active warrant to man who had gone to the jail to turn himself in.

8:18 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, to serve a warrant on a man. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

12:51 p.m. An officer contacted two men in the BMX Park, 1425 E. Empire St., who were suspected in a shoplifting from Safeway. It was determined the men were not involved in the shoplifting, but one had an outstanding warrant and was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:09 p.m. An officer stopped a small hatchback that had blue lights in violation of state law. The driver had an active warrant and was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

3:43 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Travelodge, 1120 E. Main St., about a report of a man breaking windows. A guest had allowed a man to stay with him. The man consumed alcohol and the man who was staying with the guest refused to go to sleep. The man asked him to leave, and about an hour later he returned and tried to get back in the room by breaking the window. The man suspected of breaking the window was arrested and on suspicion of criminal mischief and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:54 a.m. An officer observed a woman who had an active warrant with a group of people in Cortez City Park, 802 E. Main St. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

12:35 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of North Broadway about a report of a drunken driver. The driver of a car matching the suspected vehicle had an odor of alcohol on his breath. Several women were also in the car. The driver of the vehicle were removed from the car and a warrant search was begun on each of them. While the warrant search was underway, one of the women got in the driver’s seat and disobeyed orders to get out of the car. She started the car and fled the scene with the other women in the car. She reached speeds of 70 mph in a 35 mph zone on South Broadway. Deputies were able to stop the vehicle at South Broadway and West San Juan Drive. Two women were secured with handcuffs, but one woman tried to run away. She was secured and also placed in handcuffs. The woman who fled said she didn’t want to be picked up because she had an active warrant. The woman with an active warrant was arrested and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center. The Colorado State Patrol was dealing with the other occupants of the car.

9:35 p.m. An officer stopped a northbound Ford Focus in the 300 block of South Broadway without its lights on. The officer stopped the vehicle and noticed the male driver had the smell of alcohol on his breath. The man failed roadside sobriety checks and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, failure to present proof of insurance and failure to display lamps at night. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:53 p.m. An officer was dispatched to help a woman who was yelling behind Slaven’s True Value, 237 W. Main St. She was arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, Nov. 1

9:48 a.m. An officer was called to the 300 block South Harrison about a report of a dog running at large. A woman was issued a summons for a dog running at large. The dog was current on vaccinations.

10:43 a.m. An officer was called to Southwest Memorial Hospital about a report about a possible assault. At the hospital, an officer said an intoxicated woman gave him several accounts about a possible assault and rape. The woman had also given several different accounts to a doctor. An intoxicated man, whom the woman referred to as her husband was with her. He was questioned about the woman’s differing accounts of an assault or rape. The man gave the officer a different account of what happened. The man also said the woman and him had drunk several beers earlier. The woman was told she could come back to the hospital in the next five days when she was sober for a sexual assault examination. The woman was arrested for violating a protection order banning consumption of alcohol and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. At the jail, she was issued a breath-analysis test that showed her blood alcohol content at 0.346.

11:51 a.m. An officer in the 200 block of West Main Street saw a man he knew had an active warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

3:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway, to issue an active warrant to a man. The man was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Nov. 3

11:36 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Tequila’s restaurant about a woman who was making racial slurs about the employees and who hadn’t paid for a margarita. The woman was intoxicated and had a been issued a protection order banning her from drinking alcohol. She was issued a trespass notice banning her from Tequila’s and arrested and left in the custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:28 p.m. An officer was in the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue when he observed a woman who appeared to be intoxicated in the middle of the road obstructing traffic. The woman was issued a blood alcohol breath test while being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital. The test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.239. The woman was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

12:15 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Travellodge, 1100 Main St., about a noise complaint. An intoxicated man fled a room at the inn when officers arrived. He stopped in the middle of Main Street and was cussing at officers when he was almost hit by a car. The man was arrested on suspicion of intoxicated pedestrian in the roadway and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

3:40 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St., about a man who was violating a trespass order. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:15 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to serve a woman with an active warrant. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
