The reporting party said a Glock 43X 9 mm handgun in a black lock box went missing from a cabinet in his camper around March 11, 2024, while the family was out on a bike ride. The gun was entered into CCIC/NCIC.
1:22 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road F. 2, Cortez, for a report of possible domestic violence. The female victim initially denied physical contact but later said her boyfriend shoved her head into the bed by the back of her neck during an argument. No visible injuries were observed.
4:50 p.m.: A deputy responded by phone regarding fraud at a residence on Road 16, Cortez. An elderly woman lost approximately $41,922 after being scammed on Facebook into buying gift cards at local stores and sending photos of them to the suspect.
6:38 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on U.S. Highway 491, Cortez, for a civil standby involving a protection order violation. The woman subject to the order was arrested after allegedly entering the protected property and violating a protection order. Another woman was banned from the property.
1:14 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 24.2, Cortez, for a theft report. A man said a delivered box of insulin pumps and glucose monitors was mistakenly left at a neighbor’s house, was allegedly opened and partially stolen.
3:43 p.m.: A deputy responded to the area of FSR 561 and 350, Mancos, for a single OHV rollover crash with injuries. The side-by-side rolled onto its passenger side after leaving the roadway. Occupants had minor lacerations.
2:52 a.m.: Deputies responded to a residence on Road T, Dolores, for a domestic violence assault. A woman was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after a physical altercation with her boyfriend.
6:18 a.m.: A deputy responded by phone to a theft report at a residence on East Main Street, Cortez. A woman said her ex-boyfriend’s mother picked up her Yorkie puppy from the animal shelter and refused to return it despite knowing it belonged to her. The woman who allegedly took the dog was cited for theft and obstruction after refusing to tell the deputy the dog’s location.
3:22 p.m.: Deputies responded to a residence on Road G, Cortez, for an active assault. A man walked in on his girlfriend with another man and allegedly assaulted both, causing serious bodily injury to the male victim. An arrest warrant was sought.
6:40 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road U. 65, Dolores, for a domestic violence report. The woman said her boyfriend strangled her briefly and grabbed her during an argument. No visible injuries were observed and no arrest was made due to insufficient probable cause.
10:18 p.m.: A deputy responded to Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, Cortez, for an animal bite report that originated at a residence on Road 30.1. A couple sustained scratches while separating fighting cats.
1:37 p.m.: A man came to the sheriff’s office to relinquish a black Remington 522 Viper .22 rifle for destruction. The firearm was checked, cleared and secured for destruction.
2:39 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road N, Cortez, after a man said he wanted to turn himself in on a warrant.
6:34 p.m.: A deputy assisted with a DUI investigation at CO Highway 145 and Road T, Dolores. The female driver was arrested by a state trooper.
6:04 p.m.: A deputy responded to 24001 Road G. 2, Cortez, for a REDDI report. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving a vehicle with blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more.
7:34 p.m.: A deputy assisted Colorado State Trooper with a DUI investigation at Colorado Highway 145 and Road T, Dolores. The female driver was arrested.
12:43 a.m.: A deputy responded to North Dolores Road and Pelota Drive, Cortez, for two fires allegedly started by a firework. The fires were extinguished with assistance from another officer and the fire department.
1:20 a.m.: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on Road 27, Cortez, for a vehicle with no taillights. The driver was cited for failure to provide insurance.
6:52 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 40.9, Mancos, for a disturbance. A man was cited for harassment after banging on a door, yelling and removing a door handle while upset that his vehicle was blocked.
7:17 a.m.: A deputy responded to Road 25, Cortez, for an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was tagged for towing.
7:01 p.m.: Deputies responded to an open field south of 2279 E. Hawkins St., Cortez, for a vegetation fire. A man was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree arson, firing woods or prairie and criminal trespass after being seen running from the area.
7:29 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 25, Cortez, and arrested a man on warrants.
3:23 p.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Road 21.4, Lewis, for a possible protection order violation reported by CPS. A warrant was sought for the man after he was present at the protected person’s residence during a visit.
1:02 a.m.: Deputies responded to a residence on Road S, Cortez, for a disturbance involving an allegedly intoxicated man making suicidal statements and threats. The man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
8:18 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence on Colorado Highway 145, Dolores, for a wildlife complaint and cited a man for failing to secure trash in a bear-resistant receptacle.
10:05 a.m.: A deputy responded by phone to a residence on Road 38, Dolores, for a theft report. A man said an empty UPS/FedEx package box worth $200 was taken from his driveway.
