Thursday, Aug. 17

11:03 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 40000 block of U.S. 160, Mancos, on suspicion of domestic violence and violation of a protection order after he allegedly got into an argument with the mother of his child and threw a lit cigarette at her, hitting her in the neck.

8:30 a.m.: A deputy killed a fawn that had two broken legs in the 17000 block of County Road 24.

Friday, Aug. 18

5:43 a.m.: A woman was issued a summons near the intersection of County Road 38 and Colorado 145, Dolores, on suspicion of criminal mischief, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and failing to provide proof of insurance after deputies responded to reports that she had rammed another vehicle. The woman reportedly claimed she was chasing the woman because she had found her in bed with her boyfriend. She also reportedly said she had bitten the other woman before the chase, and deputies found blood on her shirt. The damage to the other woman’s vehicle was estimated at $950.

2:42 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for failure to comply on a misdemeanor charge.

8:42 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a suicide threat on County Road 33. A man was found in a locked pickup with a bag of prescription pills, and was reportedly showing symptoms of a possible overdose. Deputies worked to keep the man awake until medics arrived and transported him to Southwest Memorial Hospital.

Saturday, Aug. 19

12:14 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 25000 block of Colorado 145. A man claimed two TVs had been taken from his mobile home while a man against whom he had a protection order was on the property. But a witness claimed the suspect had never entered the caller’s home, and she said she had seen the caller remove the TVs from his property himself. Deputies dismissed the case.

12:41 p.m.: A man was cited in the 3000 block of U.S. 160 on suspicion of driving under suspension and failing to provide proper child restraints after a child was found lying in the bed of his truck.

2:52 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 400 block of West Main Street, Cortez, on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for driving with an unreadable license plate.

Sunday, Aug. 20

2:02 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. A woman claimed her boyfriend, with whom she lived in the 28000 block of County Road K.2, was becoming increasingly verbally aggressive toward her and she wanted to report his behavior in case it got worse. Deputies advised her on how to obtain a protection order, but said they did not believe there was enough probable cause to make an arrest.
