Friday, Aug. 11

8:07 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a break-in at D&L Construction, 11576 County Road 24. One of the owners claimed the door to his shop had been pried open and a set of sensors for a Power Curber machine used for pouring concrete curbs and barriers, valued at $5,148.97, had been stolen. The case remains under investigation.

Saturday, Aug. 12

4:04 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of driving with a defective brake light and displaying a suspended license plate.

Sunday, Aug. 13

12:06 a.m.: A woman was issued a summons in the 17000 block of Colorado Highway 145 on suspicion of driving under restraint after she was pulled over for speeding.

2:34 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a break-in in the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 160. A woman claimed that sometime in the past two weeks, someone had entered the residence and stolen a child’s electric truck valued at $250, two antique typewriters valued at $100 each, a bench vise valued at $70, a bench grinder valued at $70, a pair of mounted deer horns valued at $50, a freezer valued at $300, an empty safe valued at $50 and an air compressor valued at $50. There was reportedly no sign of forced entry. The case remains under investigation.

7:29 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of property damage at Doc’s Marina Fuel, 341 Railroad Ave., Dolores. A business owner claimed a 2,000-pound buoy had been removed from a pillar where it was anchored, and the pillar was now detached from the wooden walkway in front of the business. The case remains under investigation.

10:41 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned motorcycle in the 19000 block of County Road BB, Pleasant View. When they arrived on the scene, there was reportedly no motorcycle in the area, but a truck was hauling a dirt bike away. The truck’s driver claimed his brother had crashed the bike earlier in the day, breaking his collarbone, and had walked away from the crash site to get a ride to the hospital. No charges were filed.

Monday, Aug. 14

1:58 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of property damage in the 26000 block of County Road 16. A man reported someone had shot his tractor, leaving several bullet holes, sometime between Aug. 11 and 14. The case remains under investigation.

7:46 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 22000 block of U.S. Highway 491 on suspicion of second-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment, third-degree assault and criminal mischief after deputies responded to a report that he had attacked another man with a hammer. Because of reports the suspect might be dangerous, responding deputies approached the scene with guns drawn. The suspect, a truck driver, claimed he had gotten into an argument with another truck driver over the radio when he wouldn’t let him pass, and both vehicles had pulled over to the side of the road to continue the argument. The other truck driver claimed the suspect had punched him in the face and repeatedly tried to hit him with a claw hammer. He also claimed the suspect had repeatedly hit his truck door with the claw end of the hammer, causing about $700 in damage.

10:17 p.m.: Two men were issued summonses in the 6400 block of County Road 24.2 on suspicion of harassment and careless driving, respectively. The first man claimed the second had hit him with a car while driving on the wrong side of the road. He reportedly responded by jumping on the hood of the car in anger and spitting on the windshield. The second man claimed he then followed him home, confronted him and spat in his face while yelling insults. Responding deputies found no evidence the first man had been injured or that the second man’s car had been damaged in any kind of accident.

10:29 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue, Dolores, on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and driving with a defective taillight. The man reportedly said he had smoked a bowl of marijuana before driving.

Tuesday, Aug. 15

3 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons in the 100 block of North Ninth Street, Dolores, on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving without insurance.

5:23 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the 16000 block of County Road Z. A woman reported a windshield on a vehicle belonging to Colorado State University had been broken in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. She reported the keys had previously been stolen from a CSU workshop, so she had installed a steering wheel lock in the vehicle. Responding deputies believed the suspect had broken the window while trying to remove the lock. The case remains under investigation.

9:20 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 160 on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.
