The Colorado Community College System is beginning its nationwide search for Pueblo Community College’s new president.

Current PCC president Dr. Patricia Erjavec is retiring in May 2024.

“Dr. Erjavec has taken Pueblo Community College to new heights thanks to her commitment to student success, industry partnerships and academic innovation,” CCCS Chancellor Joe Garcia said in a news release. “Our goal is to find a successor who will advance a strong vision for the college and continue its tremendous progress.”

CCCS is encouraging members of the community to support the search by sharing their opinions and what attributes they want in the next president.

Community members can make their voices heard by completing a feedback survey by Nov. 10.

Feedback collected from the survey and the town hall conversations that took place on Oct. 31 will help “inform the development of the job description and position profile, which will serve as the guiding documents for recruitment and assessment,” according to the release.

CCCS will be partnering with Isaacson, Miller, an executive search firm that is “nationally known and respected” that will “support the PCC presidential search by recruiting a wide and diverse pool of candidates,” the release said.

“Isaacson, Miller has successfully supported CCCS with several recent president searches, including Arapahoe Community College, Community College of Aurora and Front Range Community College,” the release said.

The recruitment process for Pueblo Community College’s new president will begin immediately, and the application portal is now open. The search process is expected to take several months, with the goal of announcing the next president in May 2024.

Prospective candidates and community members may submit applications and nominations online at imsearch.com.

The release said that CCCS is putting together a search advisory committee, comprised of college and community representatives, to help with the search.

After receiving recommendations from the committee, the chancellor will select the strongest candidates going forward.

These candidates will then meet with the campus community and engage in public forums, where constituents can learn more about the candidates’ qualifications, leadership styles and philosophies on various topics.

“Community feedback from these forums will be instrumental to the chancellor’s final decision,” the release said.
