San Juan College graduation to take place in-person, virtual

San Juan College recently partnered with Ute Mountain Ute Tribe to bring a health occupation program to the college.
The ceremony will be livestreamed on the college’s website, YouTube account

San Juan College will hold graduation ceremonies for its students, as well as those who have earned degrees from New Mexico Highlands University – Farmington Center and the University of New Mexico – San Juan Center, at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 13, in the Learning Commons Plaza.

A live web stream of the event will be available at www.sanjuancollege.edu or through the San Juan College YouTube channel.

Farming Mayor Nate Duckett will give the guest keynote address. San Juan College president Dr. Toni Hopper Pendergrass will preside over the ceremonies.

Graduation will recognize over 1,800 San Juan College graduates earning associate degrees and certificates, as well as more than 119 graduates earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees from satellite campus of NMHU and UNM.

San Juan College Board of Trustees will award diplomas and certificates to the students. Faculty members serving as grand marshals are Sherri Cummins and Annette Abend. Music will be under the direction of Teun Fetz.

Gayle Dean, executive director of the San Juan College Foundation, will award the Foundation’s Allison Award for Excellence to an outstanding faculty member. Interim vice president for learning Dr. Lisa Perez will recognize this year’s honors students.

The graduate selected by the Graduation Committee to represent the class and speak at this year’s ceremonies is Angelica Castillo. Castillo will receive an associate of arts in human services-generalist degree.

Following graduation ceremonies, a reception will be held on the west lawn of Henderson Fine Arts Center.
