Another race, another team win for the Mancos High School boys cross-country team and another meet record for Ro Paschal.

Competing in the Wolf Creek Invitational in Pagosa Springs on Sept. 20, the Bluejays boys finished first overall in a 10-team field, 22 points ahead of second-place Monticello.

Pacing Mancos on the tough and hilly Pagosa Springs course, junior Ro Paschal finished first overall in a meet-record time of 19:16.

Not far behind was Bluejays freshman Simon Kearns, who finished third at 19:54.

Cracking the top 10 for Mancos, Nic Archuleta finished sixth with a time of 20:16. Asa Kearns finished 17th at 21:13.

Rounding out the Bluejays varsity finishers, Caleb Yoder finished 40th (22:46), Vincent Grego finished 41st (22:51), and Jake Mckie finished 47th (23:14).

"Our boys continue to do a nice job up front," Mancos head coach Brady Archer wrote in an email to the Mancos Times. "It was nice to see Caleb and Vincent make up for our usual fifth runner who did not run."

Among the girls, the Bluejays were led by Emma Most, who finished 19th with a time of 26:50.

Next across the line for Mancos was Hannah Skinner, who finished 25th (28:06). Jessalyn Bay-Voit finished 34th at 30:01.

"The girls are a bit banged up right now, but I know they will be ready when the races count the most," said Archer.

Next up for the Bluejays will be the Chicken Creek Challenge, which will be held in Mancos on Sept. 27. Middle school races will begin at 9 a.m., junior varsity races start at 10 a.m., and varsity races kick off at 11:15 a.m.
