A new economic development coordinator was announced Friday for Region 9 Economic Development District of Southwest Colorado.
Audrey Royem is tied to Colorado through four generations and grew up in the Four Corners region, the announcement said.
“Audrey will be working to support strong, vibrant communities across Southwest Colorado, and we’re confident her leadership and experience will make a meaningful impact,” the news release said.
Royem has a master’s degree from the prestigious School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, according to the release.
With a background spanning education, public policy and international development, Royem brings a breadth of experience to her new role with Region 9.
To name just some of her past roles, according to her LinkedIn, Royem volunteered for the Peace Corps before going on to work for the United Nations. While in Mexico, she founded a Montessori school, ran a bed-and-breakfast and took on the position of a real estate executive.
Royem is described as “deeply passionate about rural resilience, business growth, and inclusive economic planning” in the announcement about her new role.
