‘Red flag’ threat was ignored

The school shooter in Nashville communicated with a gal friend about this horrific event about to happen. The friend called law enforcement right away in the morning. Law enforcement did not get back with the concerned friend until 3:30 p.m., after three children and three adults were already dead.

Nashville police were given credit for getting to the school shooting in time to stop more carnage, unlike the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. The parents of their dead children are not thrilled, I assume, that this whole unfortunate incident would not have happened if the brave whistleblower had been contacted immediately. Ditto with family members of the two teachers and janitor gunned down.

Hopefully, the relaxed Wild West gun laws in Tennessee, Texas and elsewhere will be revised. Whistleblowers that “red flag” potential threats are not ignored, and all lawmakers should earn their paychecks by showing us – and the rest of the appalled world – more determination to keep citizens safe in our schools, malls, movie theaters and more.

Enough is enough and time to make sure innocent people do not die from flying bullets.
