9:13 a.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace at the Cortez Rec Center.

2:41 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order after he shared pizza with the alleged victim.

3:32 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a pair of women’s sunglasses and a magazine worth a total of $20.98 from City Market.

3:37 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library on two outstanding warrants and issued summonses for disorderly conduct and violating a protection order and bond condition.

6:34 p.m.: A vehicle with a missing front license plate was stopped near S. Chestnut and Main streets, and the female driver was issued summonses for driving while her license was canceled/denied, operating an uninsured vehicle and displaying just one license plate. The vehicle was impounded on suspicion of containing illegal drugs.

8:15 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Rec Center after he allegedly threw rocks at a vehicle, causing about $139 in damage.

11:31 p.m.: An officer investigated damaged items including an upset motorcycle in the 600 block of N. Ash St. and tracked down the owner, who was drinking at a bar and didn’t want to be disturbed. The owner called later that night, about 2:08 a.m., to report the damage, but did not want to start an investigation.

Sunday, April 17

12:00 p.m.: A girl in the 10 block of S. Elm St. suffered a dog bite on her lips that required five stitches, but the dog, described as a 1.5 feet tall, 3 feet long and brown and shaggy, was not found.

Monday, April 18

1:44 p.m.: A man was served a summons for trespassing after a store employee in the 800 block of S. Broadway claimed that he was disturbing customers.

7:05 p.m.: A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant and allegedly disturbing the peace after he was seen apparently urinating on a wall in the 10 block of N. Park St.

Tuesday, April 19

11:14 a.m.: A man was served a summons for shoplifting after allegedly stealing a pair of glasses, a container of chicken and a salt and pepper shaker at City Market.

6:37 p.m.: A man was served a trespassing notice after he was observed sleeping on a porch at a residence in the 200 block of E. Montezuma Ave.

5:10 p.m.: Two men were served trespass notices at the Cortez Public Library, and one was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

8:35 p.m.: A man at The Bridge shelter was arrested and served with a summons for trespassing.

Wednesday, April 20

1:27 p.m.: A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant in an area behind the Children’s Kiva on E. Empire St.

3:05 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and DUI per se after driving away from Southwest Memorial Hospital.

9:36 p.m.: A man was arrested at a Cortez motel on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia and an illegal drug. The arrest came almost two hours after the man left the scene of a traffic stop near City Market.

Thursday, April 21

12:40 a.m.: A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant in a restroom at Parque de Vida.

2:46 a.m.: After a traffic stop near N. Chestnut St. and W. Montezuma Ave., a male passenger was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession and distribution of an illegal drug, tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing government operations.

9 a.m.: A man reported that his pickup truck, valued at $20,200, had been stolen from outside Blondie’s Trophy Room, on Main St., overnight. The truck was found in a parking lot in Oak Meadows Trailer Park.

11:05 a.m.: A driver was pulled over for weaving, and he and his male passenger were patted down for weapons. In the process, the officer suffered a small prick on his finger, but didn’t find the source of the prick. He gave blood at Southwest Memorial Hospital to be tested for communicable diseases.

2:34 p.m.: A man was served a warrant at District Court, 19 W. Main St.

Friday, April 22

1:18 a.m.: A male driver was pulled over near N. Edith and E. Main streets and arrested on suspicion of being a habitual offender, driving with a revoked license, and a missing sidelamp.

3:01 a.m.: A man reported a window had been broken at his apartment in the 700 block of E. Second St., but when police attempted to question a neighbor, he refused to answer the door.

1:34 p.m.: A man was arrested in Cortez City Park on a felony warrant.

2:39 p.m.: A man was arrested on three outstanding warrants for vapor abuse and was issued a no-trespass order after allegedly attempting to steal a bottle of Goop at Slavens hardwear store.

8:36 p.m.: A man was arrested near W. Fourth and Pine streets on suspicion of DUI, expired license plates and no insurance

Saturday, April 23

9:30 a.m.: A man was arrested at Wal-Mart and issued a no-trespass order for allegedly stealing $361 of goods.

12:13 a.m.: A man was pulled over, allegedly for driving with his bright lights on, a police dog conducted a sniff search of the vehicle and police searched the interior of the vehicle. The driver was issued a warning, and a passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The police dog did not find evidence of illegal narcotics.

11:18 a.m.: A driver was pulled over in the 10 block of S. Chestnut St. because of faulty lights and arrested on suspicion of possessing meth and drug paraphernalia.

11:51 p.m.: A man was cited near E. Seventh and S. Sligo streets on suspicion of driving without a valid license and proof of insurance, and his female passenger was arrested on suspicion of possessing meth and drug paraphernalia.

Sunday, April 24

6:16 p.m.: An officer who responded to a report of a fight in Parque De Vida arrested a woman on an outstanding warrant and planned to request an arrest warrant for a man on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence.

Monday, April 25

7:21 p.m.: A driver was pulled over near Taco Bell and arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, reckless driving, driving without insurance and driving with fictitious license plates. His ex-wife, who worked at the restaurant, was questioned about the man, and arrested on an outstanding warrant.

8:20 p.m.: An officer investigated a couple who appeared to be engaged in sex in Parque de Vida, discovered that they were kissing, and arrested the man on an outstanding warrant.

10:11 p.m.: A woman reported to be sleeping in the restroom at City Market was arrested on suspicion of violating bond conditions and a protection order.

11:17 p.m.: An driver who had parked the retired M-CHS was arrested on two outstanding warrants, suspicion of violating a protection order and possessing a controlled substance. A loaded handgun was seized.

Tuesday, April 26

6:28 a.m.: A man was issued a no-trespass order and arrested on an outstanding warrant after he refused to leave a residence in the 900 block of Memorial Drive.

4:13 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing at Wal-Mart.

4:24 p.m.: A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant from La Plata County at Wal-Mart, and her vehicle seized after a police dog indicated evidence of narcotics.

8:33 p.m.: An officer recognized a vehicle from a watch list, conducted a police dog sniff search and a search of the vehicle’s interior, and issued a summons to the female driver for possessing drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday, April 27

1:02 p.m.: A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant at City Market after a report of a public disturbance.

2:08 p.m.: A male pedestrian was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated in the 600 block of N. Mildred Road, near the duck ponds.
