Thursday, May 7

2:44 p.m.: An officer responded to the Cortez Police Department lobby where a man reported being assaulted at the Pinon Project, 210 E. Main St. Video showed another man punching the victim three times in the face while he slept. The suspect was located and arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and violation of a protection order.

9:55 p.m.: An officer stopped two men on bicycles without lights at North Washington Street and East North Street. One man was arrested on a warrant and cited for protection order violation prohibiting alcohol and controlled substances.

Friday, May 8

2:18 p.m.: An officer responded to Family Dollar, 324 S. Broadway, for shoplifting. A man wearing new sandals with tags was arrested on a warrant and cited for unlawful possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance. He was banned from the store.

2:58 p.m.: An officer responded to City Market, 508 E. Main St., for warrant service. A man allegedly denied his identity, resisted and struggled before being arrested on suspicion of the warrants, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

6:35 p.m.: An officer responded to the Pie Maker, 17 N. Harrison St., for trespassing. A previously banned man was cited for trespassing. Another man received a never-expiring ban, and a third was cited for open container.

8:35 p.m.: An officer responded to Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., for trespassing. A man previously banned from city parks was cited for trespassing.

Saturday, May 9

12:07 a.m.: An officer responded to Burger Boy, 400 E. Main St., for attempted break-in. A man with knives had damaged a table. He was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief.

1:13 a.m.: An officer responded to a residence on North Mildred Road for a domestic fight between brothers. One man was bleeding from the head after being struck with a pellet rifle. His brother was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.

2:30 p.m.: An officer responded to Americas Auto Care, 244 E. Main St., for trespassing. A previously banned man was cited for trespassing.

4:32 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle near Big R, 1319 E. Main St., for reckless driving. The woman driver allegedly showed signs of impairment, failed maneuvers and had suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, possession of a Schedule 2 controlled substance, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.

5:41 p.m.: An officer responded to the 1000 block of East Second Street for a welfare check. A woman in an abandoned vehicle was arrested on a warrant after resisting.

6:48 p.m.: An officer responded to Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., for assault. A man with a bloody lip identified another man with blood on his shirt and knuckles. The second man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault.

Sunday, May 10

6:48 a.m.: An officer responded to a residence on South Cedar Street for domestic violence. A woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after breaking vehicle windows with a rock.

8:01 p.m.: An officer responded to the White Eagle Inn, 2110 S. Broadway, for a fight. A man allegedly destroyed a painting, resisted arrest and spat on an officer. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

10:47 p.m.: An officer responded to South Washington Street for a suspicious vehicle. A woman was arrested on a warrant.

Monday, May 11

4:24 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle near the Econo Lodge, 2020 E. Main St. The driver was arrested on a warrant. His male passenger was also arrested on a warrant and cited for protection order violation.

6:16 p.m.: An officer responded behind Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., and saw a man and woman together in violation of a protection order. The man was arrested on suspicion of protection order violation after resisting.

Tuesday, May 12

8:57 a.m.: An officer responded to the Pinon Project, 210 E. Main St., and arrested a man on a warrant.

10:48 a.m.: Officers responded to a residence on East 13th Street and arrested a man on a warrant.

11:20 a.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of North Ash Street with expired plates and found drug paraphernalia and fentanyl. A woman was cited for possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and expired plates. Her male passenger was cited for drug paraphernalia.

3:50 p.m.: An officer responded to South Washington Street and arrested a man on a warrant.

7:55 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle at North Harrison Street and East Montezuma Avenue. The woman driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, failure to provide proof of insurance, driving on a revoked license, failure to signal as required, failure to maintain a lane/weaving, possession of open alcohol container in a vehicle and possession of open marijuana in a motor vehicle.

Wednesday, May 13

1:36 a.m.: Officers responded to a residence on South Elm Street for domestic violence. A man was arrested on suspicion of harassment/domestic violence after allegedly choking his partner and making threats.
