Thursday, Nov. 9

1:30 a.m. A woman was arrested for two warrants at 405 W. Seventh St.

10:28 a.m. A man reported finding a bicycle on the sidewalk in front of his property at 229 S. Ash St., the reporting officer recovered it to be held in evidence for 30 days.

12:17 p.m. A man was remanded into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center at 703 E. Driscoll St. from the Montezuma County Combined Courts.

3:06 p.m. An officer took a report from a man and woman who were having a domestic dispute at 507 W. Fourth St.

3:12 p.m. An officer responded to a residence at 650 E. Second St. for a report of possible protection order violation.

3:27 p.m. Officers responded to 215 W. Second St. to remove two people who were inside a woman’s residence without her permission. The man and woman were arrested on suspicion of violating permanent restraining protection orders from the residence. A man who accompanied the couple at the property was also arrested for a warrant out of Durango.

4:17 p.m. A man with second warrants remanded himself into the custody of the Montezuma Detention Center at 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:05 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order restricting him from possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages or controlled substances at 718 E. Main St.

Friday, Nov. 10

3:38 a.m. A man was arrested for suspicion of second-degree assault for choking and restricting the airway of a woman, and for a third-degree assault for biting that woman’s lip at 433 W. Third St. He was also served a felony hold slip at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:59 a.m. An officer took a report of an accident at 500 E. Main St.

1:19 p.m. A man reported finding two bicycles on his property at 500 S. Cedar St. It will be held at the evidence department for 30 days.

3:35 p.m. A man was arrested for suspicion of obstructing a peace officer and third-degree criminal trespass after trying to fight an officer who was responding to a call to remove intoxicated individuals at 508 E. Main St. According to police records, the man had been trespassed on Jan. 17. The officer then transported the man to the hospital for clearance as protocol for highly intoxicated individuals and doctors were not able to give clearance for the man to be transported into the custody of the detention center. The man was cited and released to the Southwest Memorial Hospital.

4:20 p.m. A man was arrested at 405 W. Seventh St. for a warrant.

6:12 p.m. An officer was called to 303 S. Broadway to remove a man who was being a nuisance at Popeyes Chicken. He was arrested for two warrants.

11:37 p.m. A man who was cited and released to receive medical care in lieu of being arrested earlier in the evening was arrested for suspicion of second-degree trespassing after breaking into a vehicle to stay warm at 145 S. Madison St.

Saturday, Nov. 11

12:41 p.m. A woman was arrested for a warrant at 830 E. Main St.

11:29 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of DWAI, weaving, required position for left turn, open container, driving under revoked/suspended license, and a criminal protection order violation at, 2279 Hawkins St.

Sunday, Nov. 12

12:36 a.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of violating two protection orders that she shall not possess or consume alcoholic beverages. She was cited with DUI, POV, obstruction, resisting and misuse of disabled parking. She also was issued an express consent affidavit at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

12:06 p.m. A man reported theft from his vehicle at 1522 E. Macarthur Ave. The suspect was seen on the resident’s home security camera, and images have been shared with law enforcement agencies.

4:54 p.m. A man was cited with theft and first-degree trespass for entering a woman’s vehicle and taking her keys at the City Market Fuel Station, 506 E. Main St.

Monday Nov. 13

8:38 a.m. A woman was arrested for a warrant at 506 E. Main St.

1:15 p.m. An officer was performing a simple traffic stop for no license plate on a trailer at 400 S. Madison St. when a man sprinted and fled from the vehicles passenger side. When he was found by a different officer at an apartment complex, it was discovered he had nine warrants out for his arrest, and he was arrested and cited with obstructing an officer. The driver of the vehicle was cited with driving with a suspended license and having no attached license plates. The owner of the truck was called to pick up the vehicle, but when he arrived to drop off an employee to retrieve the vehicle, it was discovered the owner had a warrant out for his arrest, he was arrested and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 703 E. Driscoll St.

1:37 p.m. A man was cited with careless driving and owner operating an uninsured motor vehicle when he caused a rear-end collision at 1 Pinion Drive.

2:05 p.m. An officer responded to investigate a structural fire at 902 S. Market St.

4:22 p.m. An officer took a report from an injured man in the emergency room about a possible aggravated assault involving a firearm at 900 E. Seventh St.

7:05 p.m. An officer responded to a robbery call at 302 W. Main St. The suspect was caught on surveillance cameras zip-tying the store employee and taking about $750 dollars and a box of Snickers.

9:28 p.m. A female was cited with DUI, driving under restraint and weaving at 1853 E. Main St. The issuing officer filled out an Express Consent Affidavit and Notice of Revocation for the female and the Cortez PD Intoxicated Subject Release form when releasing her to the custody of her mother.

11:37 p.m. An officer responded to a call regarding an intoxicated man who had injuries from a bicycle accident at 300 E. First St. The man was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for his injuries and awaiting medical clearance because he was intoxicated. The officer requested the staff call dispatch when the man was cleared so officers could detain him for violating a protection order that requires him to refrain from possessing or consuming alcohol. The man left the hospital and was later arrested.

Tuesday, Nov. 14

10:35 a.m. An officer took a report from the First National Bank for a counterfeit $100 bill.

9:12 p.m. A man was arrested for suspicion of violating a mandatory protection order that prohibits him from possessing or consuming alcohol when an officer was responding to a report of a man falling in the roadway at 1013 E. Main St.

Wednesday, Nov. 15

7:10 a.m. A man was arrested for suspicion of DUID, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia at 405 W. Seventh St.

10:32 a.m. A man was arrested for a warrant at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. and remanded into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:42 p.m. A man reported that another man was trespassing at the residence he was at by the property owner at 215 W. Second St. The reporting man was arrested when it was discovered he had two active warrants for his arrest.

3:13 p.m. A woman who was picking up keys to her vehicle that were stolen earlier in the week was arrested for a warrant for child abuse at 608 N. Park St.

4:53 p.m. A man was arrested for a warrant at 1000 E. Main St.

4:54 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 703 E. Driscoll St.
