Friday, Nov. 2

12:18 p.m. An woman found two bicycles at 1700 E. Downey Ave. and reported them to the Cortez Police Department.

3:09 p.m. An officer responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., where a woman and two males were suspected of taking motor oil, hot deli foods, a watermelon and other miscellaneous items. They were all issued non-expiring trespass notices. The woman was cited with shoplifting.

Saturday, Nov. 3

11:52 a.m. An officer responded to a collision at the traffic light on 1 S. Sligo St. A woman was cited with a penalty assessment for careless driving.

2:39 p.m. A man was cited at 905 May Lane with operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without a valid license, driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to notify the police of an accident, diving without license plates, and failing to display valid registration.

2:47 p.m. An officer was asked to identify and remove a suspicious bagged white substance the hospital emergency room staff removed from a man at 1311 N. Mildred Road. The substance was placed into evidence to be destroyed.

Sunday, Nov. 4

9:09 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and held on a felony hold slip at 1 E. Main St.

5:47 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a never-expiring trespass from Safeway, 1580 E. Main St.

6:41 p.m. An officer took a report from an elderly woman regarding the theft of her Social Security benefits at 417 S. Cedar St.

Monday Nov. 5

12:24 p.m. A man was cited with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while under suspension, and displaying expired plates.

4:24 p.m. An officer took a report for an assault at 1612 Taylor St.

8:24 p.m. A man was arrested for a warrant and was cited with trespass at 203 E. 7th St.

Tuesday, Nov. 6

8:42 a.m. An officer responded to a call to investigate a pile of gasoline-soaked items in the alley at 25 N. Harrison St.

9:49 a.m. A man reported finding an old ammo box with tire chains inside it at 100 S. Mildred Road.

10:06 a.m. A woman reported damage to her vehicle from a possible hit and run at 601 N. Mildred Road.

10:26 a.m. A man reported a 5-gallon bucket filled with copper was stolen from his property at 1204 Montelores Ave.

12:33 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:44 p.m. A man was cited with trespass for the second time in 24 hours at the same location of 2021 E. Main St.

7:18 p.m. A woman was cited with indecent exposure when she was suspected of urinating in an aisle at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

9:09 p.m. An officer was called to remove two men who allegedly were harassing employees at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St. One man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that prohibits the consumption or possession of alcohol.

Tuesday, Nov. 7

11:21 a.m. An officer retrieved a paper bag containing cellphones and credit cards at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. they were reported into evidence as found property.

1:21 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at 500 E. Montezuma Ave.

1:24 p.m. A woman reported that a gun and money were missing from her truck after being serviced and left unlocked at her request for when she was able to pick it up. An individual was recorded on surveillance cameras rummaging in her unlocked vehicle in a parking lot at 127 N. Broadway.

7:52 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 2200 E. Main St. After a concerned citizen reported and recorded her weaving in and out of her lane.

11:58 p.m. A woman was cited with cruelty to animals, camping on public property, parking an inoperable vehicle parked on city property and parking and occupying a recreational vehicle on a city street at 100 W. First St. According to police records the vehicle has been parked on city property since Sept. 13. The woman refused to accept offers of assistance.

Wednesday, Nov. 8

10:40 a.m. A man was cited with possessing a dangerous or illegal weapon and carrying a concealed firearm near Kemper Elementary School, 620 E. Montezuma Ave.

12:08 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a woman in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:06 p.m. A man was arrested at 15 W. Montezuma Ave. on suspicion of violating a protection order and was held on a felony hold slip after allegedly spitting in an officer’s eyes. A woman also was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court.

7:15 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating two protection orders for sustaining from the use or possession of alcohol at 516 S. Madison St.

7: 38 p.m. An officer served a felony warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
