Wednesday, March 2

5:47 p.m.: Police responded to a call to a residence in the 500 block of S. Madison St. and arrested a woman on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence, and a man on suspicion of violating a protection order. Four children were left in the care of their grandmother.

6:59 p.m.: A man reported that his car had been spray-painted while it was in a parking lot at a store in the 1200 block of E. Main St.

8:12 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run at Main St. and Mildred Road and arrested a man in the 400 block of S. Broadway on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving without a license, failing to obey a traffic signal, failing to notify police of an accident, operating an unregistered vehicle and possessing an open container of alcohol.

Thursday, March 3

4:02 p.m.: A woman was advised that she would receive a summons for possessing marijuana with intent to distribute it after she reportedly tried to mail marijuana at a postal service on Main St.

4:56 p.m.: A driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and some prescription drugs were seized after a woman was pulled over in the 10 block of S. Chestnut St.

3:36 p.m.: A pedestrian was arrested on an outstanding warrant after he was seen stumbling on a sidewalk in the 800 block of E. Main St.

3:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, failing to drive in a single lane (weaving) and driving with license denied, after she exited McDonald’s restaurant on E. Main St.

9:23 p.m.: A woman who had reported a possible stolen car told police that her husband had borrowed it.

9:48 p.m.: An officer requested warrants for a man suspected of domestic violence, harassment and violating a protection order after woman reported that two of her tires had been slashed at Sonic restaurant.

Friday, March 4

9:10 p.m.: A man was received a summons for DUI, DUI per se, careless driving and driving without a driver’s licence after a single-vehicle crash in the 2100 block of S. Broadway and was released in the care of his brother.

4:12 p.m.: A man was arrested after incident at the Ute Mountain Motel on suspicion of violating bond conditions by possessing marijuana, second-degree burglary theft, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

9:29 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace after allegedly urinating on a wall at 23 W. Main St.

Saturday, March 5

3:30 a.m.: After a call about a disturbance, woman was arrested on three outstanding warrants and suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence at a residence in the 500 block of S. Chestnut St.

2:05 p.m.: A man received a summons for possession of alcohol in Cortez City Park.

7:36 p.m.: A driver in the 300 block of S. Madison St.

10:35 p.m.: A woman was pulled over in the 1600 block of N. Dolores Road and arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, driving without activated headlights and driving with a revoked license.

8:24 p.m.: A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant at a residence in the 500 block of S. Madison St.

Sunday, March 6

9:15 a.m.: A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the 500 block of W. Seventh St.

1:50 p.m.: A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant in 600 block of E. Main St.

2:20 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1500 block of E. Seventh St. on a La Plata County warrant.

2:44 p.m.: A dog was placed in quarantine after biting a girl at the Cortez Apartments.

10:23 p.m.: A man was issued a summons for possessing alcohol in Cortez City Park.

11:51 p.m.: Officers arrested a woman near Elm and W. Main streets on suspicion of violating a bond, possessing a drug and drug paraphernalia, and obstructing authorities.

Monday, March 7

7:18 a.m.: A man reported theft of a cell phone, Bluetooth speaker, a glass-cutting tool, binoculars and a gas card from a vehicle parked at Four States Tire Co.

11:25 a.m.: A man was arrested at Wal-Mart for suspicion of shoplifting.

3:52 p.m.: A man and a pregnant woman were arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after a fight at Parque De Vida. The woman’s arrest was absolved because she was experiencing contractions.

Tuesday, March 8

1:26 a.m.: A man was issued summonses for DUI, DUI per se, careless driving, open container and failure to present proof of insurance after being pulled over near Seventh St. and Jordan Place.

9:18 a.m.: A man was arrested on outstanding warrant in the 500 block of E. Main St.

1:06 p.m.: A man was arrested outside the Cortez Public Library on suspicion of possessing an open container of alcohol.

4:14 p.m.: An officer responded to Southwest Primary Care for report of domestic violence but did not find enough evidence for an arrest.

6:48 p.m.: A man received a summons for careless driving and DUI after a traffic accident at Second. and S. Elm streets.

8:16 p.m.: A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the City market parking lot.

10:31 p.m.: An officer responded to a call at a drive-in restaurant and requested that an arrest warrant be issued for a man suspected of violating protection order.

Wednesday, March 9

6:57 a.m.: Officers investigated a possible break-in in the 400 block of S. Market St., reported $400 damage to doors, confiscated a vape pen, and arranged to interview a possible suspect.
