Thursday, April 7

9:22 a.m. A woman reported that her handgun was stolen from her car in the 600 block of North Elm Street. There were no leads.

9:33 a.m. An employee reported that someone tried to pry the back door open of Hibbett Sports, 215 S. Sligo St., the night before. There were no leads.

10:27 a.m. A man reported that someone keyed his car at Hampton Inn, 2244 Hawkins St. An officer attempted to obtain surveillance footage.

10:58 a.m. Two people reported that items were stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of N. Henry St. There were no leads or suspects.

11:57 a.m. A man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant after an officer observed him drinking with others at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. Others involved were issued summons for having an open container in a park.

6:24 p.m. A man and woman were trespassed from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after someone reported them for selling THC-laced baked goods.

10:24 p.m. An officer attempted to locate a vehicle that allegedly sped by him in the 300 block of West Empire Street. He wasn’t successful.

Friday, April 8

5:48 a.m. An intoxicated man was taken into custody after he reportedly crashed into a light pole in the 600 block of North Broadway. He was cited for drunken driving, careless driving and failing to report an accident.

9:46 a.m. Video footage showed a Cysco driver causing a dumpster to roll into a man’s car, damaging it, in the lower 100 block of Main Street. The officer attempted to contact the driver.

10:41 a.m. Someone turned in a box with 43 live 9 mm rounds to the Cortez Police Department, 900 E. Main St.

11:16 a.m. A man was transferred from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., where he was served a warrant.

Saturday, April 9

2:15 a.m. People reported that a man hit their cars and fled at Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St. Bureau of Indian Affairs officers took the man into custody.

4:06 p.m. A man was taken into custody in the 27400 block of U.S. Highway 160 and cited for drunken driving, speeding, driving without a license, following too closely, weaving, eluding a police officer and underage consumption of alcohol.

Sunday, April 10

12:29 p.m. A man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant at Parque De Vida, 400 N. Mildred Road.

8:31 p.m. An intoxicated male driver was taken into custody in the 1700 block of East Main Street. He was cited for drunken driving and running a red light.

Monday, April 11

10:12 a.m. A woman was served warrants at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:43 a.m. A woman was taken into custody on outstanding warrants in the 500 block of North Washington Street.

6:38 p.m. A woman reported identity theft in the 400 block of South Maple Street. There were no leads.

Tuesday, April 12

1:04 p.m. A traffic collision occurred when a man failed to yield to the right of way at the intersection of Montezuma Avenue and Ash Street.

Wednesday, April 13

4:04 a.m. A woman reported that someone left a bag in her car in the lower 100 block of Madison Street. The woman suspected it might have been from someone who slept in her car to avoid the cold. An officer attempted to return the bag.

7:42 a.m. A woman reported silver graffiti painted on the First Street Car Wash, 21 S. Harrison St. There were no leads or suspects.

4 p.m. A man was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant in the 600 block of East Main Street.

7:34 p.m. A woman was issued a summons for driving under the influence, careless driving and failing to give information after a crash after a woman reported that she clipped her rearview mirror and fled in the 200 block of West Main Street.
