Friday, Jan. 10

11:14 a.m. An officer was called to Mesa Elementary School, 703 W. Seventh St., about a traffic crash involving a garbage truck. The garbage truck had struck a pickup. The driver of the garbage truck said he was blinded by the sun. The incident occurred in a private parking lot, and no summons were issued.

11:26 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., to take a report from a couple about fraudulent charges to their debt card after the woman had mistakenly left it in an ATM the previous evening. The officer obtained video surveillance of the purchases and filed it with his report of the stolen card.

2:41 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about removing two intoxicated people who were violating trespass notices. One man was issued a summons for violating a trespass notice. The other man was arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:36 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Travelodge, 1120 E. Main St., for a verbal disturbance. An uncooperative man was arrested for violating a protection order and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:15 p.m. An officer was in the area near Econo Lodge, 2020 E. Main St., when he recognized a man with an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, Jan. 11

12:09 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Four States Tire, 41 N. Edith St., about a domestic dispute. A man and a woman were involved in a dispute. The woman was arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol. She was also issued a summons for domestic violence and harassment. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

12:19 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Taste of India restaurant, 1013 E. Main St., about a report of an unwanted person. An intoxicated man was arrested for disturbing the peace and issued a trespass notice banning him from the restaurant. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:48 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the initial block of North Park Street on a welfare check of a cyclist who had fallen. The cyclist appeared to be intoxicated. He had a protection order banning him from consuming alcohol. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Jan. 12

2:47 a.m. An officer was patrolling in the 400 block of West Main Street when he saw a gray Ford with an expired license plate. The female driver appeared intoxicated. She was in violation of a protection order banning consumption of alcohol. In addition, she was on a felony pretrial release banning consumption of alcohol. She was arrested and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:25 a.m. An officer was dispatched to take a report of a cold theft in the 700 block of East Fourth Street. A man reported the theft of a radar detector, a dash cam an MP3 player, a double outlet and change from his vehicle.

2:05 p.m. An officer recognized a man with an active warrant in the parking lot of Safeway, 1580 E. Main St. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St., about a possible assault. Two women were involved in a dispute. One of the woman had an active warrant. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Jan. 13

8:17 a.m. An officer was dispatched to 1300 block of E. Montezuma Avenue to take a report of a traffic crash. A Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Silverado were involved in a crash with moderate damage to each vehicle. The drivers gave conflicting statements about what occurred. No summons were issued, and the incident remains under investigation.

9:18 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of East Seventh Street about a woman who has been trapping feral cats. She had been bitten by one of the beasts. The cat was impounded for observation at the Cortez Animal Shelter.

2:34 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the parking lot of Empire Electric, 801 N. Broadway, about a crash in the parking lot. The officer took a report of a fender-bender. No summons were issued.

8:37 p.m. An officer was dispatched to a reported fight at Pizza Hut, 1119 E. Main St. An intoxicated man had started a fight with employees. The man was arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:15 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, to issue an active warrant to a woman. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

9:21 a.m. An officer was patrolling in the 200 block of N. Roger Smith Avenue when he observed a silver Toyota Camry with expired license plates. A man and a woman were occupants, with the man driving. The man was found to be violating a protection order banning contact with the woman. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:58 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Cortez Police Department lobby, 608 N. Park St., to take a report concerning property damage and theft. An employee of Huckleberry Offenders Skram Systems reported an offender who agreed to participate in the program, which involved an electronic tracking bracelet, was not cooperating and had not been seen since Dec. 23. The Skram employee wanted to report the bracelet missing.
