Wednesday, Aug. 19

2:53 a.m. A woman was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear in the 600 block of South Broadway.

11:54 a.m. A man was arrested on an active felony warrant for failure to comply in the 400 block of East Arbecam Avenue. A disturbance involving the man was reported. The woman involved could not be located.

8:58 p.m. A hit-and-run crash was reported in the 1000 block of South Chestnut Street. A green Neon sedan was seen leaving the scene. The damaged vehicle had green paint on the bumper where it was struck.

11:21 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of a protection order violation on the 2300 block of East Main Street. A gas station employee observed several men “muscling up” to several other men and asked if they needed police assistance. One of the victims said the suspect had just pulled a knife on him. A knife was found on the suspect and he appeared to be intoxicated, a violation of a protection order.

Thursday, Aug. 20

12:09 a.m. A white Chevrolet 2500 was reported stolen in the 400 block of West Second Street. The vehicle was later recovered by Navajo Nation police near Aneth, Utah. A rock had been thrown through the windshield.

6:28 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and was trespassed from the store for six months at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

11:25 p.m. Property damage was reported after an alarm went off at a business in the 300 block of East Main Street. Deputies observed a broken window and a door handle had been broken off. Security cameras were not functioning.

Friday, Aug. 21

6:22 a.m. A vehicle’s windows were shot out in the 400 block of North Beech Street. A BB believed to be shot from a slingshot was recovered. Similar property damaged was reported at a nearby store and bank.

2:55 p.m. A vehicle was keyed in Cortez, though the exact location was unknown.

10:20 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and her license was revoked in the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue. A deputy observed suspicious driving behavior and followed a car for several blocks. The driver attempted to elude the deputy but was pulled over and failed to complete roadside maneuvers successfully. A breath test indicated a BAC over the legal limit.

Saturday, Aug. 22

8:18 a.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant at Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. The man went to the police department looking for his vehicle, which had been towed.

7:20 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of reckless driving, failing to notify police of an accident and leaving the scene of an accident in the 800 block of North Edith Street. The woman allegedly left her boyfriend’s house upset and crashed into a parked car. She then left the scene and was later pulled over.

7:23 p.m. A woman was cited for reckless driving and failing to notify police of an accident in the 700 block of South Chestnut Street. A civil disagreement between two women led to aggressive driving, and one vehicle struck another vehicle then left the scene.

Sunday, Aug. 23

8:55 p.m. Two vehicles had rear windows broken out at Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St.

Monday, Aug. 24

11:27 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of careless driving in the 10 block of North Park Street. A man crashed his vehicle into the back end of a parked vehicle.

3:28 p.m. A man was arrested on an active warrant for failure to comply in the 600 block of East Main Street. An employee reported a group of drunken people who refused to leave the motel and asked police to remove them.

Tuesday, Aug. 25

7:48 a.m. A woman was arrested on an active warrant and was cited on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and a man was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal mischief, harassment and domestic violence in the 700 block of South Broadway. Trespassing was reported at a motel, where a man who had previously been trespassed was banging on the door of his girlfriend. The woman had an active warrant and was found to be in possession of drugs when searched.

5:25 p.m. A man was arrested on three active warrants in the 1500 block of East Main Street.
