Wednesday, April 10

12:26 p.m. A woman was cited for driving without a license and for failing to yield the right of way after a minor crash in the 1500 block of E. Montezuma Avenue.

1:20 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

3:52 p.m. A man was arrested at a fast-food restaurant in the 1300 block of Main Street on two warrants for failure to appear in court. He was taken to Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:09 p.m. An man was arrested in the 700 block of E. Main Street on an outstanding warrant. The man appeared to be intoxicated and was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance and then to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Thursday, April 11

7:36 p.m. A man was stopped at Market Street and Third Street by an officer who suspected from previous encounters that he was driving with a suspended license. Upon investigation, the officer took a woman, who was in the backseat, into custody on an active warrant for her arrest. A white powder believed to be cocaine was discovered in the back seat where the woman had been. They also found a bag in possession of the woman that tested positive as meth. The woman was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center. The man driving the vehicle was issued a summons for driving on a restrained license and operating an uninsured vehicle. The vehicle was towed.

8:26 p.m. A man was arrested in the 1800 block of Main Street and issued a summons for DUI, DUI per se, operating an uninsured vehicle, displaying a fictitious license plate and displaying only one license plate. The main was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, April 12

5:53 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the 1500 block of E. Main St. He was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:31 p.m. A man was arrested in the 1600 block of E. Empire St. for driving under the influence, obstructing a street and possessing open alcoholic containers. The man mas left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

9:03 p.m. A man was arrested in the 700 block of Canyon Drive for several outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants out of Montezuma, San Miguel and Larimer counties. The man was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:56 p.m. A man transported to the Cortez Police Department for a breath test for alcohol and then transported to the Montezuma County Detention Center after a traffic stop in the 700 block of Main Street. The man was placed on a felony investigation hold.

Saturday, April 13

4:43 a.m. A man was arrested in City Park, 802 Main Ave., for violating a pretrial release on felony charges that a barred him from consuming alcohol or possessing drugs.

4:53 a.m. A woman was arrested in the 200 block of E. Seventh Street for violating a restraining order prohibiting her from consuming alcoholic beverages after she blew a breath test that showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.088. After a blood test at Southwest Memorial Hospital, she was transported to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:11 p.m. A man was arrested in City Park, 802 Main Ave., for violation of bond conditions and protection orders barring him from drinking alcoholic beverages.

8:47 p.m. An officer confiscated a jar with 30.1 ounces of marijuana in it after being called to the 400 block of Broadway to investigate a suspicious car that had been parked in the area.

9:29 p.m. A woman as cited for careless driving after hitting a man who was putting gas in his truck at City Market, 528 E. Main St.

10:06 p.m. A man was arrested in the 100 block of N. Elm Street for violating a restraining order barring him from drinking alcoholic beverages. The man was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center after receiving a medical clearance from Southwest Memorial Hospital after he blew a breath test that resulted in a reading of a blood-alcohol content of 0.320.

10:30 p.m. A man was arrested for driving under the influence in the 800 block of Montezuma Avenue. He was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center after being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital. The man was also issued a summons for obstructing a highway.

Sunday, April 14

12:14 a.m. A man was arrested at Main Street and Market Street after an officer witnessed the man walk in front of a semitrailer. The man was booked into the Montezuma County Detention Center for violating a protection order, violating conditions of a bond and a pedestrian in the highway under the influence of alcohol.

1:50 a.m. A man was arrested in the 200 block of N. Park Street on outstanding warrants. He was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:52 a.m. A man was arrested in the 700 block of Cedar Street on an active warrant for his arrest from La Plata County. The man was taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center, and two children who were with him at the time of arrest were placed in the custody of their mother.

5:05 p.m. A man was arrested for outstanding warrants and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

5:56 p.m. An inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center was served a warrant.

Monday, April 15

7:49 p.m. A man and a woman were arrested in the 1500 block of Main Street for possession of illegal drugs after a number of syringes were discovered in a car, one containing heroin. A police K-9 alerted to drugs in the car. Police also discovered fentanyl and methamphetamine in the car. Another man was issued a summons for possession of an illegal weapon and possession of Schedule 4 controlled substance.

Tuesday, April 16

9:31 a.m. A man was issued a summons for trespassing at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

11:23 a.m. A man was taken into custody for trespassing in the 500 block of E. Third Street. The man had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath and was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital and was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:31 a.m. An inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center was issued a warrant for failure to appear.

1:40 p.m. A man was arrested in the 1400 block of N. Mildred Road for violating a protection order and violating conditions of a bond. He was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:07 p.m. A man was issued an outstanding warrant at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St. The man was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

The Journal
