Saturday, Aug. 1

12:34 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of third-degree criminal trespassing, violating bail bond conditions and violating a protection order in the 1800 block of East Main Street. A suspicion person was reported. The man previously had been trespassed from the property.

11:02 a.m. Damage to a vehicle window was reported in the 100 block of West North Street. The vehicle’s window was broken, but no items were taken.

2:56 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of pretrial release, third-degree criminal trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction and resisting arrest in the 1500 block of East Main Street. A brush fire was called in. When officers arrived to investigate, a man ran away, dropping several glass pipes and what appeared to be drugs, and was pursued. Additional drugs and paraphernalia were found on his person.

6:43 p.m. A man was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in the 600 block of East Main Street. A man was lying face down in a parking lot, and officers responded for a welfare check. Dispatch confirmed active warrants.

Sunday, Aug. 2

3 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 400 block of South Broadway. He had been trespassed from the property earlier.

9:10 a.m. A shattered back window of a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of West North Street. There were no suspects.

11:35 a.m. A vehicle’s front windshield was shattered in the 600 block of North Elm Street. There were no suspects.

6:39 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order in the 20 block of South Harrison Street. Suspicious activity was called in after several people were seen selling items from a car wash bay. A woman at the scene had a protection order against the man selling the items.

8:09 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of violation of a traffic control light in the 20 block of South Broadway. The woman allegedly ran a red light, causing another vehicle to collide with her. Minor injuries were reported. A small dog riding in the second vehicle was killed by the airbag.

Monday, Aug. 3

9:07 a.m. Property damage was reported at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. A window on the south side of the building had a large piece broken out of it. There were no suspects.

Tuesday, Aug. 4

12:57 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St.

4:43 a.m. A man was arrested on two felony warrants for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. The man turned himself in.

9:35 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant in the 200 block of North Edith Street.

11:05 a.m. A hit-and-run was reported at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

1 p.m. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala was reported stolen in the 500 block of South Madison Street. The suspect was known to the owner, but officers were unable to locate him.

7:13 p.m. A man was arrested on three warrants for failure to appear in the 1200 block of East Main Street. When contacted by an officer, the suspect fled and was chased on foot. He was taken to the ground, sustaining minor abrasions.
