Tuesday, Aug. 6

2:08 p.m. An officer was called to a traffic accident in the 900 block of Empire Street. A vehicle was struck in the intersection by a vehicle that had failed to stop at a stop sign. One driver suffered minor injuries.

2:40 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts to issue an three active warrants to a man. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:12 p.m. An officer was called about a report from a man who said someone had broken into his hotel room in the 300 block of West Main Street. A man who smelled of alcohol was arrested in one of the rooms. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Thursday, Aug. 8

3:30 p.m. An officer was in the Cortez Plaza area, 2200 E. Main St., when he recognized a man with an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:23 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 800 block of East Main Street about a complaint of a disturbance. The officer approached a man matching the description of the suspect on the call outside the Colorado Welcome Center, 921 E. Main St. The man was arrested on an active warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, Aug. 9

8:17 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts to issue an active warrant to a man. The man was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

8:56 p.m. An officer served an active warrant to a man in the 700 block of East Second Street. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:34 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting in progress. A man and a woman were issued trespass notices for Walmart after the store showed the officer surveillance footage of the two skip scanning items, a practice of paying for some items and not paying for others while in the shelf-checkout counter.

Saturday, Aug. 10

8:32 a.m. An officer was patrolling in the 1000 block of East Main Street when he recognized a man with an active warrant walking westbound. The man was arrested and left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

8:57 a.m. An officer was called to Liquid Assets about a shoplifting in progress. A man was arrested walking eastbound on Montezuma Avenue with two unpaid bottles of vodka. The man was issued a summons for shoplifting.
