Monday, Feb. 26

11:57 a.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:15 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

3:15 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

9:20 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order after a reportedly fighting at Conoco, 302 W. Main St. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication. At the jail, he challenged deputies to fight. They tackled him after he refused to walk to his cell.

10:02 p.m.: A man was arrested at Giant gas station, 2320 E. Main St., on a San Juan County, New Mexico, warrant for failure to appear on a larceny charge after a report of a dispute between him and another man over a vehicle.

Tuesday, Feb. 27

4:26 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Arby’s, 504 S. Broadway, on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

11:21 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

5:53 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on nine Montezuma County warrants and on suspicion of introducing contraband. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to a panic attack. On his way to jail, he reportedly left a bag of meth in the patrol car. Two marijuana joints were found in his pocket in the booking process.

6:57 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of trespassing and possession of a controlled substance after trying to remove a board from a boarded-up window. A plastic container of meth was found in his pocket, and the building’s owner said he didn’t have permission to be on the property.

Wednesday, Feb. 28

5:32 a.m.: A woman turned herself in and was arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

2:40 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of East Main Street on suspicion of violating a protection order after police contacted him for slowing traffic by “staggering” through an intersection. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication, then jailed.

5:20 p.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after appearing to act aggressively toward a woman near the entrance. The woman reportedly told officers she did not need help.

Thursday, March 1

1:15 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 400 block of West Seventh Street on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after police responded to a break-in call. A man requested patrols near his house because he believed someone had been breaking in, stealing things and sleeping in a pickup in his driveway. An officer saw a pickup matching the man’s description in the driveway, and found a man and a woman sleeping inside. The woman reportedly had a syringe, a small bag of heroin, a spoon and a cotton swab with heroin residue. She said the drug paraphernalia did not belong to her, and that the bag of heroin was given to her by the man, who told her it was marijuana. No illegal substances were found in the man’s possession, and officers let him go after warning him not to park on the property.

4:17 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges. The woman turned herself in and the man was turned in by a bondsman.

9:19 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Destination Grill, 2121 E. Main St., on a municipal warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

Friday, March 2

2:26 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of South Broadway on suspicion of violating a protection order after a report that he was walking in the road. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

9:13 a.m.: Police responded to a report of vandalism in the 300 block of South Madison Street. A vehicle had been dented, causing about $700 in damage. The car’s owner also said someone had written vulgar words in the snow on her vehicle about a week earlier, and she suspected one of several people against whom she has protection orders could be responsible.

10:49 a.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on three warrants for failure to appear on misdemeanor charges after police responded to a report he was trespassing in the building. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

10:54 a.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a municipal warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after police responded to a report that he was sleeping on the sidewalk with his pants down. He was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to intoxication.

11:15 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 2700 block of Fairway Drive. A man said a set of golf clubs, a golf bag and a briefcase had been stolen from his vehicle between Feb. 27 and March 1, while the vehicle was unlocked. He estimated the value of the items at $1,350.

12:13 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 300 block of North Market Street on suspicion of harassment and violating a protection order after reportedly fighting in the road with a man who had a protection order against her. The man told police the woman yelled at him, tried to block him from walking away and made suicidal statements.

4:22 p.m.: Police responded to a report of burglary at R&L U-Store It, 530 N. State St. The business owner reported locks were cut off five storage units in the past week, causing about $10 damage per lock. She said nothing appeared to be missing from the units.

Saturday, March 3

12 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of West Main Street on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for displaying expired registration tags. He also failed to provide proof of insurance. He reportedly tried to pull away from officers during the arrest, but they pinned him against the patrol car and handcuffed him.

12:15 p.m.: Two women were arrested on warrants at Travelodge, 1120 E. Main St., a report that one of them was intoxicated and standing in front of a room. She arrested on a La Plata County warrant for failure to appear, and another woman staying in the room was arrested on a Cortez warrant for failure to appear. The first woman was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for intoxication.

2:51 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1200 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of five counts of violating bond conditions, an open container violation and possession of alcohol in the park after a report of a stolen phone. A bottle of vodka was found in his pocket. He reportedly refused to get into the patrol car, but complied after the officer threatened to use his stun gun. While he was being taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance, the man reportedly banged on a K9 cage in the car and barked at the dog. He reportedly threatened the officer during the booking process.

6:04 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after a patient at Southwest Walk-In Care, 2095 N. Dolores Road, reported her boyfriend had kicked her in the ribs and impacted her y breathing. She said this was part of a pattern of abuse. The girlfriend said the man had thrown her into a wall previously, and his mother claimed he had broken his step-father’s leg when he intervened in a fight. Police arrested the suspect at White Eagle Inn after a brief search. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.
