Wednesday, July 25

3:10 p.m.: A woman at Southwest Memorial reported that her cat, Booboo, bit her at her home in the 600 block of South Valley Road. The Montezuma Vet Clinic confirmed that the cat had a rabies vaccination, and the woman was ordered to confine and observe the cat to be sure.

Thursday, July 26

9:40 p.m.: An intoxicated man who was suspected of stealing a 12-pack of beer from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was arrested for violating alcohol-related bond conditions, shoplifting and trespass. He was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital for clearance, then to jail.

Friday, July 27

12:20 a.m.: A man was arrested at a residence in the 200 block of S. Harrison St. on suspicion of domestic violence and harassment after allegedly spitting at a woman, kicking her and pulling her arms. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

10:02 a.m.: A man walking in the 500 block of West Sixth Street was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and for investigation of possessing meth.

3:22 p.m.: An intoxicated man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed for extradition to Towaoc on a felony warrant from Ute Mountain Ute police.

10:18 p.m.: A man was cited for shoplifting $420 worth of cleaning, personal and clothing products from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Saturday, July 28

2:20 a.m.: A man driving with unlighted headlamps was pulled over in the 200 block of North Broadway and arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with a revoked license, violating alcohol-related bond conditions, and driving with unlighted lamps.

8:53 a.m.: An intoxicated man was arrested in the 100 block of North Park Street for violating alcohol-related bond conditions, and was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed. At the jail, his BAC registered 4.0, the high limit on the breath analyzer.

6:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested on three warrants in City Park, 802 E. Main St., after she was seen drinking Listerine. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

Sunday, July 29

1:50 a.m.: A man was arrested 300 S. Market St. on charges of DUI and DUI per se. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

10:48 p.m.: A woman was pulled over at 400 W. Seventh St. for weaving and was arrested on charges of weaving, failing to provide proof of insurance, and driving with a suspended license. She also faces a felony charge of criminal impersonation after identifying herself as her sister. Her dog and car were released to a friend.

Wednesday, Aug. 1

9:33 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

10:17 a.m.: A man who was wanted on a warrant turned himself in at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St.

11:39 a.m.: A man who was suspected in a public disturbance in the 300 block of MacArthur Avenue was arrested on a misdemeanor and cited for false reporting to authorities.

12:07 p.m.: A vehicle rear-ended another vehicle in the 200 block of N. Market St.

11:52 a.m.: A woman with her step-daughter at the Department of Motor Vehicles office accused girl’s mother of violating a protection order by being present with them at the DMV. Police officers determined that the girl’s mother was not in violation of the protection order because it was a legal visitation day with her daughter.

Thursday, Aug. 2

3:08 p.m.: A vehicle making collided with another vehicle while making a left turn in the 10 block of W. 11th St.

7:09 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant after being spotted in a parking lot in the 2600 block of E. Main St.

7:20 p.m.: An officer on foot patrol in Cortez City park, 802 E. Main St., arrested a woman on a warrant.

9:19 p.m.: A driver was pulled over in the 400 block of South Ash Street for an unlighted headlights and an unlighted brake light and cited with driving while under restraint.

11:35 p.m.: A woman suspected of shoplifting from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., was located about an hour later on North Mildred Road and arrested on suspicion of tampering with evidence and theft. She also was trespassed from Walmart.

Friday, Aug. 3

8:28 a.m.: A man towing a trailer hit a gasoline pump at the Handy Mart, 806 S. Broadway, causing damage estimated as high as $10,000, according to the Handy Mart manager. The driver was insured, and the officer asked the manager to contact him with a more precise estimate.

9:48 a.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., for violating alcohol-related bond conditions. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, then jailed.

3:33 p.m.: A driver identified as a man who escaped custody at Montezuma County Combine Courts on Aug. 1 led officers on a car chase through Cortez before police called off the pursuit because of public safety. According to police, the man started driving west from the Cortez Apartments and drove up to 55 mph in a 30 mph zone on East Empire Street, passing vehicles in a no-passing zone and failing to stop at a stop sign at West Empire and North Broadway. Driving south on North Broadway, the driver allegedly hit an 78 mph in a 45 mph zone, then drove through a red light at Seventh Street and South Broadway. The officer ended his pursuit in the 800 block of South Broadway and notified the Bureau of Indian Affairs that he might be headed toward Towaoc. The officer requested a warrant for the driver on charges of vehicular eluding, driving without a license, reckless driving, speeding, unsafe passing, failing to obey a traffic signal and disregarding a stop sign. Nothing further was reported.
