Tuesday, June 12

11 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two felony warrants.

1:41 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a San Miguel County warrant for failure to comply. She said she was no longer a county resident, and took five buses from Michigan to turn herself in.

3:24 p.m.: A man reported the back window of his camper was shattered at City Market, 508 E. Main St. Officers found evidence the damage could have been caused by wind.

4:10 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Cork ’N’ Bottle, 443 E. Main St., after employees reported he tried to steal three single-shot bottles, valued at $2.97 total, by hiding them in his pockets.

5:29 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bail bond conditions after police contacted him for drinking in the park. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

8:12 p.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

10:04 p.m.: A man was arrested in Montezuma Park, 15 W. Montezuma Ave., on a municipal warrant for failure to appear. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

Wednesday, June 13

9:33 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

11:31 a.m.: A person was cited on suspicion of careless driving after reportedly colliding with another vehicle while making a left turn in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St.

2:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on a municipal warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of violating bond conditions, resisting arrest, and possessing alcohol in the park. While being transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for intoxication, he reportedly threatened the arresting officers and tried to kick them.

2:32 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 400 block of South Cedar Street on a Dolores County felony warrant.

3:04 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

6:55 p.m.: A woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at Safeway, 508 E. Main St., after employees reported she tried to steal a grocery cart full of food and cleaning items, valued at $290.08. She reportedly said she had tried to steal the items because she had no food at home.

11:59 p.m.: Police responded to a report of third-degree assault at Giant gas station, 2021 E. Main St. A woman reported her husband and daughter started hitting her during an argument in their van, and threw her out of the vehicle at the gas station. She was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for bruised arms but reportedly changed her story and became uncooperative with officers. Her husband, who has muscular dystrophy and limited movement in his arms, told police no one hit her, although her daughter had grabbed her because she tried to get out of the van while it was moving. Police determined there was not enough evidence for assault charges and dropped the case.

Thursday, June 14

12:19 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of careless driving after he reportedly collided with another vehicle at Taco Bell, 1300 E. Main St., causing minor paint scratches.

9:41 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of indecent exposure at the Cortez Post Office, 35 S. Beech St., after a witness reported he urinated outside.

10:32 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of violating bail bond conditions in City Park, 802 E. Main St. Police said he resisted being handcuffed until they forced him to the ground. He was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance, but because of a backlog of patients and because he became more cooperative, officers decided to release him with a summons.

Friday, June 15

10:17 a.m.: A man was arrested at Denny Park, 2825 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge after police contacted him for driving a vehicle with an unusually dark window tint.

11:50 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

1:05 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

1:58 p.m.: Police responded to a traffic accident in the 800 block of East Main Street. A vehicle attempting to stop in a parking space ran over a curb and pinned a pedestrian against a wall.

2:13 p.m.: A woman was arrested outside Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after police contacted her for sleeping in the alleyway. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital for intoxication.

5:32 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of West Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of driving under restraint after he allegedly tried to hit a woman with his vehicle. The woman, a passenger in the vehicle, said the man drove toward her during an argument but did not hit her. The man reportedly said he was taking the woman to the hospital to get a urinalysis for legal reasons.

8:21 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 6000 block of County Road 24 on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and leaving the scene of an accident after an alleged hit-and-run causing $7,000 to $8,000 damage to a parked vehicle on East Montezuma Avenue. A vehicle matching witnesses’ descriptions was found in a ditch on the road, with an open case of beer in the back seat. With the help of a witness and a K9, officers found the suspect in another ditch.

11:27 p.m.: A man was arrested at McDonald’s, 132 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after employees reported he was intoxicated and refused to leave. A bottle of cooking sherry was found in his pocket. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

Saturday, June 16

12:50 a.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct after allegedly hitting a vehicle and screaming threats at its occupant. He reportedly spit at officers, who put a spit mask over his head. He reportedly kicked an officer in the shin and kicked at the patrol car window while being transported. He was medically cleared due to alcohol and suspected meth intoxication.

2:46 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

4 p.m.: A man was arrested at Holiday Inn, 2121 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing and violating bond conditions after employees reported he was intoxicated and refused to leave. Two bottles of vanilla extract were found in his possession. He was medically cleared due to intoxication.

6:14 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of third-degree assault after witnesses reported he had knocked down and kicked a man in the face. The other man was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for facial injuries including a dislodged tooth. The suspect denied attacking the man and claimed four men “jumped” him and kicked him in the ribs. He was medically cleared for intoxication and a bruise on his side.

10:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1000 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of DUI and prohibited use of a weapon after being pulled over for ignoring a stop sign. He reportedly tried to pull away from officers during his arrest, and they pushed him to the ground to handcuff him. Three firearms, one of which was reported stolen, were found in his vehicle. He was medically cleared for intoxication. He reportedly told officers that he also had used meth, heroin, marijuana and alcohol, and that he had meth and heroin in his car. Police requested a warrant to search the vehicle.

10:50 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting, trespassing and violating bond conditions at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after an officer reportedly saw him steal two pairs of women’s underwear, valued at $15.50 total.

Sunday, June 17

11:54 a.m.: Two men were arrested at Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, after one of them reportedly threatened a guest and said he had a gun. Officers entered their room with guns drawn, but did not find any firearms. The man suspected of threatening a guest reportedly had a meth pipe in his hand when police entered, and two knives in his pockets. The other man said he had been threatening him with the knives and “holding him hostage.” A bag of meth was found in the second man’s pocket. A container of marijuana, two straws of the type used in meth consumption and two more meth pipes were also found among the men’s belongings. The first man was arrested on a felony warrant, and the second was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. The first man reportedly resisted being put into a patrol vehicle, so one officer kicked him. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

11:54 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the Sonic Drive--n parking lot, 436 S. Broadway, on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

4:32 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of South Broadway on two warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply on misdemeanor charges.

5:56 p.m.: A man was arrested in City Park, 802 E. Main St., on suspicion of being intoxicated in the roadway, disturbing the peace, and possessing alcohol in the park after police responded to a report that he was stopping vehicles in the road and flipping them off. He reportedly told police he wanted someone to run him over. A mostly-empty bottle of vodka was found in his possession. He was medically cleared for intoxication.

11:26 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of East Seventh Street on two Arapahoe County misdemeanor warrants and on suspicion of driving under restraint and driving with defective headlights.

Monday, June 18

4:50 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

10:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of North Edith Street on a local felony warrant.

Tuesday, June 19

1:20 a.m.: A man was arrested outside the Methodist Thrift Store, 444 E. Main St., on two municipal warrants for failure to appear after police responded to a report that he and another man were sleeping on the property.
