2:35 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of East Third Street on suspicion of trespassing after a couple claimed he had walked into their house through the unlocked back door and fallen asleep on the floor. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

12:50 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Kemper School, 315 E. Arbecam Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

4:37 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 1000 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI and failure to yield the right of way after she reportedly crashed into a retaining wall on the northwest corner of the intersection of Main Street and Mildred Road, damaging her car’s front end. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

6:44 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Seventh Street on a warrant for failure to comply and on suspicion of violating bail bond conditions after a relative told police he had been drinking for a week and needed help. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

Sunday, Aug. 27

12:56 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of South Oak Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and violation of bail bond conditions after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for driving without headlights at night. A small jar of heroin and several hypodermic needles were found in the vehicle, and the female driver said they did not belong to her. She was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance.

11:47 a.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St. after store employees claimed she and a man had tried to steal four cans of beer. Employees reportedly said they did not want to press charges against the man.

Monday, Aug. 28

9:14 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a local felony charge at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:42 a.m.: A man was served with two warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:47 p.m.: A man was arrested near Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St., on suspicion of driving while impaired and driving without a valid license after police responded to reports he had left the scene of a fight with another man. A bottle of whiskey was reportedly found in his vehicle. Both men suspected of fighting reportedly said they had a verbal argument but had not physically fought.

Tuesday, Aug. 29

12:35 p.m.: A man was arrested at Honstein Oil, 1111 Lebanon Road, on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge and on suspicion of false reporting to authorities after a mechanic reported his motorcycle looked suspicious. Its vehicle identification number had reportedly been mostly scraped off, and it had a new coat of paint in some places and a new ignition. When police questioned him, the man reportedly gave a false name. The motorcycle had not been reported stolen, but the last records police found showed it being shipped to England.

5:09 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after police responded to a report he had exposed himself at the nearby Denny’s.

8:15 p.m.: A man was arrested in Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on suspicion of violating a protection order. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

9:44 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street on two warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges, and a man was issued a summons on suspicion of damaging private property, after police responded to a report of a disturbance in their home. The woman claimed she had gotten into a physical fight with her girlfriend, during which she gave the girlfriend a bloody nose, and that the girlfriend’s father had gotten involved. The woman claimed her brother had broken her cell phone, valued at less than $100, during the fight. Both women and both men reportedly told conflicting stories about the incident, so police did not press domestic violence or assault charges against anyone.
