Montezuma County residents can celebrate the start of the Christmas season with a festive weekend.

The Canyon of the Ancients National Monument in Dolores will host its annual Luminaria Night on Dec. 6, starting at 5 p.m. The event will feature hundreds of luminaries, delicious cookies, hot cocoa, live music and a silent auction benefiting the Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance, ensuring it will be a magical evening for all ages.

Families can also attend Saturday with Santa on Dec. 7 at the Zu Gallery in Cortez, starting at 1 p.m. The first 100 guests will receive a free photograph with Santa. Additional photos cost just $5, but attendees can use their own camera to take photos for free. Complimentary hot cocoa and candy canes after the photo session will also be provided.

The festivities will continue on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. with the 34th Annual Parade of Lights, themed “The Gift of Christmas.”
