The Journal

Writer and photographer Linda Rose of Mancos will be Mesa Verde National Park’s artist in residence from Sept. 2-14.

Rose will offer a free creative writing workshop in the backcountry at Mesa Verde. Experience the silence and solitude of an ancestral Pueblo site and be inspired by the location to express your thoughts in writing. No experience is necessary.

Two sessions are planned: The first session will be at the Mug House on from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 3. The second session will be at the Step House: from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10.

Contact Rose via email at wanderingroses.rose@gmail.com to reserve a spot and get detailed information. Only six spots are available for each session.

Rose has worked in various aspects of the art world from freelance artist to educator. Her work currently focuses on photo/journal books that feature travels to various parts of the world as well as books on family history.

Mesa Verde National Park’s Artist-in-Residence program provides professional artists the opportunity to become part of a long-established tradition of artists creating art in national parks. The Artist-in-Residence program is managed for the park by the nonprofit Mesa Verde Museum Association.
