A man in his thirties was found dead with a gunshot wound to his chest on Sunday in a neighborhood west of Durango, according to La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Nate Harris.

Around 4:35 p.m., authorities responded to the call in the Durango West II subdivision on Pine Loop Road, about eight miles west of Durango.

The deceased man was born in 1984, Harris said.

The incident is under investigation, and he could not provide further details Sunday evening, he said.
