Body by Design in Cortez is celebrating its expansion and rebranding with a grand opening Saturday at its location, 1240 Lebanon Road. The grand opening will feature a reveal of the new name, ribbon cutting, food trucks, local vendors, facility tours, giveaways and live music.
Terry Tevault, who owns the gym alongside Steven and Chantilly Marquez, said the gym has nearly doubled in size since they became owners about three years ago. The gym, which was previously sized 4,800 square feet, now spans almost 10,000 square feet. He also described the gym’s new name as “heavy duty and tough.”
Tevault added that new, top-of-the-line equipment has been installed as part of the upgrades. The gym is also divided into distinct areas, depending on the individual’s desired workout or workout goals, with cardio equipment on one side and strength training gear on the other.
“We’re very excited about what’s going on and all the new equipment,” Tevault said. “This stuff is next level.”
He shared his own passion for working out and how consistency made all the difference, something he hopes others can discover and cultivate through the gym.
“Exercising, lifting has been a part of my life forever, as far back as I can remember. I think I was six when I got my first dumbbells, these little brown plastic ones filled with concrete, like 6.6 pounds or something,” Tevault said. “I've been very consistent for about two years, and it's something that I never want to be without again. I just notice how I feel, and I really want to get it out there to other folks that they can do the same. I want to get our gym and our knowledge our there to help people.”
He described the gym’s atmosphere as a place people can exercise without feeling intimidated or judged.
“They should just come check it out,” Tevault said. “People get so nervous when they’ve never been to a gym and are afraid that everyone else is watching them. That’s just not the atmosphere (here) … It’s not intimidating. It’s a place you can just be and work out.”
A live broadcast is also planned for the event. Food options will include Mexican cuisine, Yia Yia’s and Philly Cristos. Local businesses attending the opening include KB Insurance, Innovations Medical Group, Ramage Performance Therapy, FB Organics, Pivot Salon, Sue Shutterbug Photography, Cortez Family Acupuncture and Re-Max.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. All are invited and welcome to attend.
