‘Majority must vote, break Electoral College logjam’

Thank you to the letter writer for reporting Jack Posobiec’s speech at the 2024 Conservative Political Action Conference meeting. It’s so horrific it must be noted again.

Posobiec’s words: “Welcome to the end of democracy. We’re here to overthrow it completely. We didn’t get all the way there on January 6th but we will get rid of it and replace it with this right here. That’s right because all glory is not to government, all glory is to God.”

And Donald Trump said no word in reply.

But most Americans dearly want democracy – not Trump’s proposed authoritarian form of rule. Nor do they want politicians “threatening” and “punishing” people with different opinions. Nor alienating our traditional, proven allies, who presidents from Dwight Eisenhower through John Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, held close.

Nor making one religion’s “rules” the law of our land

Remember this. While Trump squeezed a win in the Electoral College, he lost the popular vote by 2.8 million – larger than any other president in history. In the 2018 midterms, Democrats trounced Republicans – especially MAGA choices. In 2020, Joe Biden won the popular vote by a veritable landslide, although it was close in the archaic Electoral College.

Again, in the 2022 midterms, Trump’s handpicked candidates lost. The majority of Americans hold our democratic system dear. But we the majority must vote. It’s the only way to break the Electoral College logjam, keep our democracy and, again, have the will of the majority succeed.
