Lions Wilderness Park to host two mountain bike races

Registration is open for Kinsey’s Spring Classic, Roost the Ridges Enduro

Registration is now open for the Kinsey’s Spring Classic and Roost the Ridges Enduro mountain bike races. Lions Wilderness Park will host both races, with Roost the Ridges Enduro taking place Saturday, March 18, and Kinsey’s Spring Classic taking place Sunday, March 19.

Roost the Ridges Enduro is a 25-mile race covering a variety of ridges and trails, such as Seven Sisters, Lake View and Wild Bills. The race is a loop which begins at Lions Wilderness Park, moves along Hood Mesa Trail and drops into the Glade before returning to the park. There are timed and non-timed sections.

Teen, intermediate and professional categories are available. Registration is $65 to $75. Register online. Race packet pickup will be from 8 to 8:45 a.m. March 18 at Lions Wilderness Park. For more information, call (505) 402-3959 or (970) 759-2126, or email aztecadventures01@gmail.com.

Kinsey’s Spring Classic is presented by Sandstone Cycles. Two race options are available. The Kids Race begins at 9 a.m. and is open to cyclists nine years old and younger. The 30-mile XC Race begins at 11 a.m. and will include new trails this year, such as Limber and Clark’s trails.

Male and female pro purses will be awarded in amounts of $500, $250 and $100.
