Farmington Public Library’s Storyteller Series continues with Sunny Dooley at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the library, 2101 Farmington Ave.

Dooley has been a storyteller for more than 30 years, collecting, learning and retelling the oral tradition of the Diné Hozhojii Hané (Navajo Blessingway stories). These stories present the world view of the Diné people and details their relationship with their surroundings.

Working as a storyteller, folklorist and cultural consultant, Dooley has retold stories by oral tradition in Navajo and in English for a variety of organizations, universities, elementary schools and conferences throughout the U.S., Canada, Africa, Europe and Mexico.

Dooley was the Olive B. O'Connor Distinguished Visiting Professor of Literature and Storyteller-in-Residence at Colgate University. She was one of nine women, and the only Native storyteller to be included in the Women’s Chautauqua Institute.

The program is open to the public.
